A man in orange robes and a rudraksha mala sits cross-legged at the fire and tends the flames with a ladle. Beside him, a man in a plain orange cloth and a purple shawl kneels and tends the fire, and a seated man in orange robes with a gold necklace and a gold garland watches. Behind them, priests in white dhotis and orange cloths attend a row of small white lamps and a brass lamp stand, and a shelf of carved deity and animal figures is visible on the right. A central figure in orange robes, with long grey hair, sits calmly with hands folded. The scene appears to be a ritual homa in progress at an outdoor setup with a colourful striped mat.2015-09-14A homa fire pit lined with orange-painted bricks burns at the centre of a ritual tent with red and multicoloured striped mats. A seated figure in a flowing saffron-orange robe with a horizontal white forehead mark and rudraksha-style beads holds a steel plate of grains, facing the fire. To the left, a man in rust-brown dhoti and a gold-coloured neck ornament holds a basket of sticks. To the right, a bare-chested man in a purple shawl and a mala sits near offerings. Behind, priests in white dhotis with gold-yellow borders and orange garments stand near brass lamps and stacked white offerings. Each cited figure's role is that of a participant in the homa.2015-09-14Photograph of a homa at a brick fire pit in the foreground, with flames and smoke rising from wood and offerings. A priest on the left in orange-red dhoti, bare-chested and wearing a gold necklace, holds a tray of offerings toward the fire. Beside him a second priest in orange-red clothes and rudraksha beads makes a gesture with his hand. Seated centrally is an older man in an orange-saffron shawl and robe with white vibhuti markings on his forehead, hands folded in his lap; his appearance is consistent with the page's a person reference but the identification is uncertain. To the right a younger man in a purple shawl with a gold chain sits near a bowl and ladle. Brass vessels, a kalasha-style pot and a colourful striped mat surround the fire, with gold ritual items and an altar of deities in the background.2015-09-14Night-time homa at an outdoor fire pit lined with red brick and strewn with yellow flower petals. A bald man in a saffron-orange dhoti and shawl, with a shaved head, tripundra markings and a beaded necklace, stands bent forward holding a brass bowl at the edge of the flames. Beside him a seated priest in white dhoti and shawl, with a shaved head and sandalwood markings, sits on a mat with a brass vessel and banana leaves. A tall brass oil lamp stands by the fire. Behind them about twenty seated devotees sit on white chairs and mats in orange, maroon, yellow and white garments, some with hands in anjali, and a tripod-mounted camera stands at left.2010-12-16A homa fire ritual in progress inside a room with a brick-lined fire pit blazing with flames. A shaved-headed priest in saffron-orange robes with a red-orange shawl, wearing a gold-bead necklace and a mala, sits cross-legged and feeds sticks into the fire from a silver bowl. Steel plates hold offerings beside him, pink flowers decorate the pit's edges, and a white jasmine garland hangs at the right. Seated devotees in chairs with pink bags are visible in the background, and a microphone stands by the priest.2012-09-05September 14 20152015-09-14Night-time fire ritual under an open-sided pavilion hung with orange pennants. A bald man in orange robes with white markings on his forehead and arms holds a silver tray aloft above a square fire pit where flames rise. Men in white dhotis with rudraksha malas sit around the pit, some holding offering plates, and a standing man in orange watches. A red and gold throne stands at left, and a golden ceremonial pole rises at right. Smoke fills the air and a few onlookers are visible at the edges.2010-11-05
