A man in orange robes and a red sleeveless undergarment stands on a raised platform, hand raised, pulling the rope that guides the pole; a second man in orange stands behind him at right. Coconut palms and an overcast sky frame the scene, with a dark stone deity murti partly visible behind the base.2009-07-08Photograph looking up at a tall copper-clad flagstaff (dhvaja stambha) rising from an ornate carved stone base decorated with yellow and magenta flower garlands. A red and orange flag is tied near the top. A single person in a red dhoti-style garment with a gold-bordered cloth and a light beaded necklace stands at right, both arms raised, pulling the ropes that raise the flag. A coconut palm and a tiled canopy edge frame the scene against a pale sky.2011-08-23July 26 20102010-07-26January 18 20152015-01-18A tall copper flagpole with ringed bands rises against a pale sky, its base carved and wrapped with yellow and red marigold garlands. A saffron-clad man in an orange top and dhoti stands at right, looking upward while pulling a rope that raises a red flag bearing a blue emblem. Palm fronds frame the scene at the edges, and a single person is visible.2010-09-02 +2 copiesA man in saffron-orange robes and a red undershirt stands on a white platform beside a tall copper flagstaff, pulling a white rope with one raised hand. The copper pillar's base is wrapped in white jasmine garlands with red, yellow and orange flower strands, and small copper shrine motifs decorate its lower section. Coconut palms and a pale sky form the background, and a brass plate sits near his feet. This appears to be a dwajarohanam, the flag-hoisting rite at a temple. The man has shaved-looking short dark hair and a tilak mark, and his clothing and presence are consistent with a sannyasi performing the rite, though his identity cannot be confirmed from appearance.2009-07-08October 18 20102010-10-18 +1 copiesA tall copper flagstaff, ornately tiered with a carved finial at top, rises against a pale blue sky, with saffron-orange cloth banners tied near its top and a garland of marigolds and yellow flowers wrapped around its carved base. Two people in orange clothing pull on ropes to raise or secure the pole, a tall coconut palm stands at right, and the shoulder of a second orange-clad person appears at the bottom edge. The scene appears to be a flag-raising at an outdoor ritual setting. The figure in the foreground wears a sleeveless orange top and his face is turned away from the camera.2008-10-09Low-angle photo of a tall wooden flagstaff with copper-banded sections, wrapped with a yellow and magenta flower garland near its carved base and topped by a small red and white flag. A single person in a red-orange robe and a beaded necklace stretches up on the right, pulling an orange cloth and rope toward the top of the pole. A coconut palm and a bright sky fill the background under a corrugated roof edge.2011-08-23
