August 02 20082008-08-02A photograph of a street-side gathering where a long-haired figure in a saffron-orange robe and a heavy gold-bead necklace is garlanded with a thick white flower garland. Two men in white shirts and white dhotis stand close; the man on the right, in a white shirt, drapes the garland over the saffron-clad figure's shoulders while the man on the left steadies from behind. Behind them, a row of white-clad devotees stands with palms pressed together in anjali, and a crowd of onlookers watches from a yellow building balcony strung with colourful bunting. Green banana plants and palm trees frame the scene.2010-01-09July 17 20092009-07-17A large outdoor crowd of devotees gathers on a dusty street in front of low buildings and a stone wall. At the centre, a young man in an orange saffron robe with a long white flower garland and a multi-strand rudraksha-style bead necklace stands with palms pressed together in greeting. Around him, men in white dhotis and white shirts with rudraksha malas and small pendants press close, while others in orange and saffron clothing stand nearby. A pink flag hangs from a pole in the background, and a woman in an orange sari watches at the right edge. The scene appears to be a public welcome or visit amid the crowd.2009-11-25A photograph of an outdoor procession on a dirt path lined by a dense crowd of men in white shirts, white dhotis and rudraksha malas, many with palms pressed together in greeting. At the centre a man in saffron-orange robes wears a long white and orange flower garland and a rudraksha mala, holding his hands joined in namaste while walking forward. Beside him men in orange and white clothing walk close, and a man in a white shirt and white dhoti holds his hand. Behind the crowd are a decorated temple gopuram with painted deity figures, an orange-and-green festooned canopy, and a loudspeaker on a pole.2009-11-25January 12 20092009-01-12A photograph of a man in an orange saffron robe wearing a long white flower garland with multicoloured ribbon-like strands, standing in a doorway with a pink wall at right. He has long dark hair swept back and a red tilak on his forehead, smiling. Around him, people with folded hands greet him: men in white shirts at left, women in saris including a purple-blue sari and a green-and-pink sari at right, and a girl in a red top. A banana-leaf canopy and a yellow bus appear in the background. Swamiji (probable) is the central figure, distinguished by long swept-back hair, saffron robe and garland, and is shown being greeted as a visitor.2010-02-15August 11 20092009-08-11A street procession in a residential lane with trees and concrete houses behind. A young woman in an orange-saffron robe, with a long white and red flower garland around her neck, walks barefoot at centre and smiles. Men in white dhotis and shirts surround her; one at left in a red shirt claps, an older man at left in white holds his palms together, and a man in white plays a long wooden horn-like wind instrument (nadaswaram-style) beside her. At lower right a drummer in a white shirt with a red and orange cloth draped over his shoulder plays a drum. Several more men in white and pink shirts follow behind. Eight or more people are visible.2010-01-20A street scene in a town with a roadside shop and a pink multi-storey building behind, a parked white van and utility poles. In the centre, a man with long dark hair wears an orange-red robe and a garland of beads, smiling and extending his hands toward a man in a white shirt and white dhoti. Around them, men in white shirts and dhotis, several uniformed police officers in khaki, and a man in orange with a shaved head and white tilak stand close together. One police officer on the right raises a hand. The orange-robed central figure matches the appearance cues for Swamiji, with long hair and saffron clothing, and the page indicates his presence, so the appearance-based label applies, though the face is not used for identification.2010-01-08January 21 20102010-01-21A photograph of a crowded outdoor pandal with a thatched palm-leaf roof and bamboo poles, decorated with marigold garlands and strings of colourful bunting. A red carpet runs down the centre. In the middle, a young man in a saffron-orange robe stands wearing a long white-and-orange flower garland, with a dark shawl or wrap over his shoulders and a black-beaded mala; his hair is short and he is not wearing a crown or turban. Flanking him, several men in white dhotis and white shirts, some with rudraksha-style malas, stand in two lines and gesture or stand at attention. Behind them, a large crowd of seated and standing devotees, many women in saris and older people with hands folded, watches on both sides, with children at the right edge. The setting suggests a ceremonial welcome or procession at a rural temple area with a small blue-walled building behind.2009-11-25
