July 01 20142014-07-01A photograph of a courtyard beside a South Indian temple with a colourful, ornately sculpted gopuram-style tower and a domed shrine with painted decoration. Five people walk across the paved yard toward the entrance: four in saffron and orange robes, one in a red-and-orange garment wearing a long flower garland, and one in orange in the foreground at right, some bare-chested or in dhoti-like wraps. A wheel symbol is painted on a white pillar at left, and potted plants line the veranda at right beside a wooden door. Palm trees and a cloudy sky appear behind the buildings.July 01 20142014-07-01A photograph of a temple veranda with stone pillars. A man with shoulder-length dark hair wears a rust-red dhoti with a gold border, a rudraksha mala, and a long multicoloured flower garland, and walks barefoot past a black stone Nandi. Behind him, a shaved-headed man in rust-red robes with a rudraksha mala, a man in white, and several people in orange and red robes stand near a temple doorway. A woman in orange stands at right, pointing. Above the doorway, a Tamil inscription and turquoise stucco ornaments are visible.2014-07-01July 01 20142014-07-01July 01 20142014-07-01Outdoor temple walkway with a red tiled path lined by palm trees and a low stone colonnade on the right. A tall white gopuram tower rises in the background, and a small stone shrine with a carved deity figure stands at left. A group of about twelve people in mostly orange and red garments walks along the path; in the foreground a figure in a red saffron-toned robe with a red and gold garland, and another in orange carries a black bag, while several others wear white dhotis and yellow shawls. Some devotees hold bags, and a man in white is walking in the middle distance. Clothing colours include red, orange, yellow, and white.2009-07-13A photograph of a covered temple veranda with granite pillars and a blue-painted support beam. In the right foreground a black stone Nandi bull sits on a pedestal. Several people stand near a shrine entrance decorated with green leaf festoons: a man with long hair wearing a multicoloured flower garland and a reddish-brown dhoti with a bare upper body, a shaved-headed man in a reddish-brown dhoti and saffron-orange shawl, a man in a white shirt and white dhoti with hands folded, and other figures in saffron and orange robes behind them. A small brass vessel sits on the floor. Painted Tamil lettering appears on a wall at left. Whether the garlanded figure is a person cannot be established from appearance, so the role is given instead.2014-07-01July 01 20142014-07-01July 01 20142014-07-01February 23 20152015-02-23September 26 20112011-09-26
