A tall reddish-brown wooden or metal flagstaff rises steeply against a blue sky with scattered white clouds, photographed from below. The pole is ringed with horizontal bands and carved rope-like collars, and a finial with a small ornament sits at the top. Two red ropes run up alongside the pole. A dark canopy edge appears in the upper left corner and a palm frond at the lower right. No people are visible.

A woman in a red-orange sari with a pink-and-white flower garland and gold bangles pulls a rope that raises the pole, while another person in a red garment and a man in white at the right help hold the lines.
