Outdoor photograph on a bare reddish-brown dirt field at dusk with hazy grey sky and smoke drifting over distant hills. A woman in an orange-red sari crouches low near a small flame on the ground, apparently tending a fire or lamp. Several men in white kurtas and white dhotis stand in a loose group with hands folded or held together, some with arms at their sides, and a few people in mixed clothing stand behind a fence line at left. A young boy in a dark green top walks at right along a white-painted line. A few scattered tree saplings and a small parked vehicle sit in the background. Some people appear to be in a devotional or ritual setting, but no clearly visible deity or altar is shown.

Outdoor photo on a reddish dirt ground at dusk with a hazy sky and a fence line of trees behind. A person in an orange-red robe with a beaded necklace bends forward toward small flames burning on the ground, surrounded by scattered petals and small lamps. Around them about a dozen people stand in white dhoti and kurta clothing with some in saris, several with hands folded in prayer, and a boy in a green top and white pants walks by. The scene suggests a ritual or puja gathering, with flower petals scattered across the ground.

Outdoor procession on a dusty red-earth clearing at dusk, with hazy hills and a few trees behind. A figure in an orange-saffron dhoti and a saffron head wrap, with a rudraksha-style necklace visible, stands at the centre facing forward; a person by these cues. A line of men in white dhotis and shirts, several holding small lit lamps or flames, stand to the left, and a boy in white trousers and a dark green vest stands on the right. Small oil lamps and scattered petals or offerings lie on the ground in front. Several people stand further back near a rope barrier.

January 02 2004 - Continuation of Jayanti celebrations

A photograph of a procession walking along a dirt road past low white and red-trimmed buildings, with a grey SUV at left and dry grassland and rocks in the foreground. Around two dozen people in white dhotis and white kurtas, many carrying saffron-orange flags and some wearing orange cloth, walk in a line. Two ornate multicoloured canopies or umbrellas with fringed borders rise above the group, and a child in a red top runs at the right edge. Hills and utility poles stand in the background under an overcast sky.

A photograph of a firewalking ritual at an outdoor dirt ground at dusk. A woman in a white sari with a dark pendant necklace and bangles steps along a narrow trench of glowing embers and ash, her hand extended for balance. Beside her, a man in white dhoti and shirt stands barefoot near the trench. Another man in white dhoti wears an orange shawl and a rudraksha-style necklace, and several other men in white dhotis, some with orange shawls, watch from behind. A boy in a striped shirt stands at right, and a blue tarpaulin, a parked silver SUV and a golden spire are visible in the background. The scene reads as a firewalk (tapas) ceremony.

Outdoor scene on a dusty dirt ground at a rural site with a low hill of earth and smoke rising on the left. Several dozen people in white and cream clothing move in loose groups; some men wear orange or saffron shawls and white dhotis, while women wear pale saris and a few hold yellow garments. A figure in white stands atop the mound in the distance. A man in white with a cloth draped over his shoulder and another in white walk toward a group; children in dark clothes stand near the right edge. A low white building with a blue-green corrugated roof and a tree sit beside the path, with puddles on the ground in the foreground.

Outdoor photograph on a bare dirt ground with scattered confetti and paper debris, smoke drifting near a wire fence and young trees. In the foreground a figure in orange sannyasi robes and an orange head wrap, with a rudraksha mala and a gold necklace, bends low over a small white block, lighting a firework. Two upright black fireworks stand on the ground to the left. Around them, several people in white clothing and one in a green sweater watch; a boy in a green jacket stands near the centre, and on the right a man in white with garlands and another in a checked shawl look on. A blue sign reading ASHRAM VEHICLES stands at the right edge.

Outdoor scene at dusk beside a white-plastered stone platform bearing a black nandi-style bull statue with a white garland. A line of people in white dhotis and kurtas, some with orange shawls, stand near a freshly dug fire pit with charred embers, where a firewalk is taking place. In the foreground a woman in a green-and-white sari holds a small child, and a brass ritual staff with an ornate finial stands at right. A silver SUV is parked in the background among onlookers in colourful saris and shirts.
