A photo at night of a large banyan tree with thick hanging aerial roots and a low raised stone platform around its base. A continuous row of small oil lamps with flickering flames lines the platform's edge and continues along the ground beside it. A yellow-orange flower garland hangs on the left near the trunk. No people are visible in the scene. The lamps suggest an evening lamp-lighting, such as Karthigai deepam, though the image alone does not establish the festival.

Night photograph of a large banyan tree with many aerial roots and trunks, draped with a garland of yellow and red flowers strung between its branches. At the base sits a small concrete platform holding a row of lit oil lamps, with more small lamps scattered on the ground around it. No people are clearly visible in the frame apart from a partial hand at the right edge. The scene suggests a traditional lamp-lighting offering at a sacred tree, with the warm glow of the flames contrasting the dark background.

A night photograph of a curved, pale stone ledge lined with small clay oil lamps, their flames glowing against the dark. A large tree with thick exposed roots stands at the upper left, and loose rough stones lie along the right edge over bare earth. No people are visible.

A night-time photograph of a large tree trunk on a raised stone platform, wrapped with orange marigold garlands and green leaf strands. Small offerings sit at its base. Warm lamps glow nearby, with a string of fairy lights overhead at left. To the right a red cloth banner with devanagari script hangs under a dark tarpaulin roof, beside a blue cloth. No people are visible.

A photograph of a shrine chamber set into the roots of a large banyan tree, viewed through a narrow stone-framed entrance. Inside the dark recess sits a black stone linga-shaped form on a yoni-like base, with a single small oil lamp burning in front of it and a few yellow flowers scattered on the ground. Thick, twisted aerial roots frame the opening. No people are visible.

Night photograph at a large banyan tree with aerial roots and a wide spreading limb, its trunk wrapped with a marigold garland and a white-and-gold chain. Two people in saffron-orange clothing stand on a dark polished floor facing the tree. The figure in front, wearing an orange robe with a white shawl, holds a lit lamp or torch toward the trunk. The second figure, wearing a saffron dhoti-style garment and holding flowers, stands beside them, with a partial figure at the left edge. A low stone ring surrounds the base of the tree. Two light-coloured poles stand near the tree. Scene reads as an evening offering or aarti at the banyan.

A night-time photograph of a large, old banyan tree with thick, spreading aerial roots and wide low branches. At its base stands a circular raised stone platform with a marigold garland of orange and yellow flowers wrapped around the trunk. A single person in an orange-saffron robe with white cloth draped over the shoulders stands at the right side of the tree, facing it, with bare feet on the reddish earth. Small offerings and a tall pole are visible at the edge of the platform.

A photograph taken at dusk or night of a barefoot figure in orange robes and a rust-red shawl with long dark hair, standing with their back to the camera and embracing or leaning against the massive trunk of a banyan tree with dense hanging aerial roots. Small white flowers lie scattered on the dirt ground at the base of the trunk. A partially visible person in white clothing stands at the far left edge. The figure in orange has long, swept-back hair and a shawl, a person appearance, but the face is not visible. Dim lighting and a sandy clearing surround the tree.

Night photograph, blurred, of an outdoor banyan tree with massive hanging aerial roots and a sprawling low limb. A lit oil lamp or flame burns on a stone platform at the base of the tree. A man in orange saffron robes stands with his back to the camera at the platform, and a blurred figure in white clothing walks at the left edge. Concrete slabs and a dark ground surround the tree; two blue-capped pillars stand at the left. The scene suggests an evening ritual at a sacred tree.
