The murti wears a black crown and a golden ornament, sits on an orange silk cloth with a purple border, and is set within a golden canopy hung with garlands and bells. A woman in a green sari stands behind the priest, observing the ritual. The priest's identity cannot be confirmed from appearance, so no a person identification is made.2008-04-28October 22 20082008-10-22October 22 20082008-10-22A photograph of a temple ritual at a shrine. The shrine is hung with red and white garlands and peacock feathers and holds a richly dressed deity murti with a crown, green jewel and pink-and-gold garments. A red and gold cloth drapes behind it, and a fast-food restaurant with a parking lot sits in the background.2008-04-28April 28 20082008-04-28A man with long dark hair, bare-chested and wearing an orange-red cloth wrap, holds a lit oil lamp toward a deity murti in a stone temple shrine. A white flower garland hangs over his shoulder. The shrine is decorated with bands of yellow, pink, white and red flower garlands, and the deity figures wear green and red garments and crowns. An orange cloth covers the altar base, with brass vessels and offerings in front. Behind the shrine, stone pillars frame a view of green trees. Another person in white stands at the left edge. The man appears to be performing aarti at the shrine. The orange wrap, long hair and bare chest are the cues for the appearance-based label, so this image shows a probable identification.2007-07-29
