A procession in an open courtyard before a red brick wall, with a garlanded pillar of multicoloured flowers at the right edge. A row of women in red-and-gold saris and dark red blouses, some holding brass plates or offering trays, stands at left beside women in white saris with gold borders. Men in saffron and orange dhotis and shawls, many bare-chested with rudraksha malas, crowd the centre; a man in white dhoti with a red-and-white shawl stands at centre left. A bearded man at right wears a white dhoti and rudraksha mala. Trees, palms, a small stage with speakers and bunting appear behind.

Outdoor procession at dusk along a sandy path under palm trees. In the centre, a man in rust-red sannyasi robes with a white and red flower garland and a dark prayer-bead mala stands with his palms possibly raised near the chest, looking to his left. Behind him, devotees in orange and saffron robes carry gold-tipped staffs and a red-and-gold ceremonial umbrella with a bird emblem. A young man in a white dhoti and white shirt holds a folded gold-bordered cloth, and a man at left in orange clothes presses his hands together in namaskar. Several people walk in procession wearing rudraksha malas. The scene suggests a ritual walking procession.

Outdoor procession in front of a red brick wall. Two purple and gold brocade umbrellas with beaded fringe are carried on poles above the crowd. Beneath them, a man in a white dhoti and orange-red shawl with a pink sash holds a brass tray of flowers and offerings, flanked by a bare-chested man with rudraksha beads and a tilak. Around them, many people in saffron-orange sarees and dhotis, some with white sandal marks on their foreheads, walk in the procession. A woman in an orange saree and rudraksha mala stands at right. Their faces are not described.

Outdoor procession in a courtyard before a red-brick wall, with two large ornate umbrellas in purple and gold brocade with beaded fringe carried overhead. In the centre, a shaved-headed man in an orange dhoti and bare chest, wearing rudraksha malas, holds a brass tray of offerings, flanked by a man in white with a sash. Around them, devotees wear orange and saffron garments, with forehead markings and beaded necklaces. A bare-chested man with long blond dreadlocks and a black headband walks at left, and a man in a red turban stands at right. Several women in orange saris are in the foreground. No one in the scene is confidently identifiable as a person from appearance, so roles are used.

A crowd of devotees gathers outdoors in a courtyard before a red-brick building, with a tall red pole in the foreground. Many shaven-headed men and women wear saffron and orange robes, with rudraksha malas and orange shawls; some men wear white shirts and dhotis. A bald man in a pink-and-orange robe with gold trim and a long orange shawl stands at centre, looking upward, and a man in orange holds a silver plate with offerings near the right edge. Overall the scene suggests a ritual gathering with people raising their faces toward something above.

A photograph of a procession on a paved courtyard beside a red-roofed building and palm trees. In the foreground a man with long swept-back hair, bare-chested and wearing a red-and-gold dhoti, a red and white flower garland and a gold necklace, walks barefoot with his hands joined near his chest. Behind him a bald man in a red-and-gold dhoti carries a tall wooden staff, and a second man in similar red robes raises a pointing finger. Several rows of people in saffron-orange robes walk with hands folded in prayer, and a woman in a yellow shawl and white sari stands among them. A decorated ceremonial umbrella with a red and gold canopy is held aloft, and palm fronds hang overhead. The scene reads as a ritual procession.

A photograph of a ceremonial procession on a tiled path beside a dirt road, with palm trees and a leafy tree overhead. Devotees in saffron and orange clothing and white dhotis walk in a line; a man in the foreground carries a brass pot with green leaves on top, and a bare-chested priest with a shaved head and red-and-gold dhoti stands with palms pressed together. Women in orange saris and young girls in white stand among them. Tall poles with orange flags and a decorated ceremonial standard rise behind. Footwear lies scattered on the ground near the path.

A photograph of a Pongal celebration outdoors in a courtyard with palm trees and a red-walled temple structure behind. Many women and girls in saffron-orange saris with gold borders and jasmine-style hair and beaded necklaces gather around a ceremonial area, some kneeling and some standing with palms pressed together in namaste. Sugarcane stalks stand upright, and firewood pieces lie on the ground near a clay pot. A few women in white saris stand among them, and a devotee's hand is visible in the foreground. A statue and red decorations appear in the background.
