Outdoor homa ritual at a fire pit built into a stone platform, with flames and smoke rising from offerings of grains and flowers. A priest in white dhoti with bare chest, gold-bordered cloth, and tilaka pours a liquid from a silver vessel into the fire while another priest in saffron-orange robes with a gold-bordered shawl and a light cloth stands nearby holding a small silver plate. Devotees in saffron and white kneel with palms joined in front of a red velvet armchair with gold trim. Behind them, a shrine with a deity murti sits under a golden arch, with palm trees, a red compound wall and a parked silver SUV. Small brass bowls of kumkum and flowers sit at the edge of the pit.2013-09-09September 09 20132013-09-09September 09 20132013-09-09September 09 20132013-09-09September 09 20132013-09-09May 03 20122012-05-03September 09 20132013-09-09A homa ritual in a tent-like hall. In the centre, a man in orange robes and a rudraksha mala sits cross-legged before a square brick fire pit with burning embers and offerings. Beside him, a priest in orange and a seated attendant tend the fire. Standing priests in white dhotis with gold-bordered shawls, rudraksha malas and bare shoulders surround the area. To the right, a tiered altar with a deity murti and gold-framed images, brass lamps, and kalasha-like vessels. A red and green striped mat lies on the floor. Roughly ten people are visible.2015-09-14Outdoor ritual scene with a sacred fire pit (homa) burning on the left, with kalasha pots and offerings beside it. A seated man in red-orange robes with a long flower garland sits on an orange throne-like seat under a red-roofed pavilion. A young man in white dhoti and a pink turban with rudraksha beads sits cross-legged on the platform, holding a bell and gesturing toward the fire, while a man in orange cloth stoops nearby. Several women in white and pale-gold saris with jasmine garlands kneel at the fire pit and kalasha pots. Rows of monks in saffron and orange robes, many garlanded, sit on the left, with more people in the background.2014-10-03Outdoor ritual at an ashram courtyard with red-walled buildings and palm trees. A seated man on the right, wearing a red-orange cloth, a beaded headband and many bead bracelets, extends his arm toward a large fire burning on a stone platform. In front of him, a row of young ascetics in saffron and orange robes and orange turbans sit on mats. Standing near a square stone fire pit with a gilded rim, two attendants, one bare-chested, tend the rite; a standing woman in orange robes holds bells and a lamp. A large steel vessel stands at the lower right. Visible offerings include a bowl and a brass lamp, consistent with a homa or fire ritual.2017-08-31August 25 20172017-08-25May 25 20172017-05-25
