A large red umbrella with multicoloured pompom fringe shelters a palanquin-style deity murti dressed with silver ornaments, white and pink garlands and green-and-red drapery. A man with long dark hair and a red tilak, wearing an orange shawl, stands beneath the umbrella with a trident-like staff beside him. Around them, devotees in orange caps and orange shawls press close, and a grey-bearded man in a grey jacket and orange shawl holds a long white pipe-like horn to his mouth. A video camera on a tripod is visible at right and several onlookers in casual clothing watch from the edges.2006-05-26A procession moves through a decorated hall with a golden-trimmed interior and red-draped alcoves. At the centre, a man in saffron-orange dhoti and a tall orange turban walks under a large multicoloured ceremonial parasol, wearing a flower garland of white and yellow blossoms and standing as if carried in a procession. Around him, women in maroon and rust saris press their palms together, and young drummers in orange cloth and beaded necklaces play large drums. A man in white dhoti with a rudraksha-style necklace walks beside the group, while onlookers in white and pastel clothes watch from the sides. Gold garlands and banners hang along the walls.2018-12-22May 26 20062006-05-26May 26 20062006-05-26A photograph of a crowded procession outside a white stone temple in Gangotri, with a deity murti carried on a palanquin-style litter decorated in orange, green and pink fabric and a white fan-like plume. A man with long, swept-back dark hair in an orange-saffron robe, distinctive long hair and orange cloth, stands at the centre pushing forward with his arms outstretched, a person by the page's claim; the figure's appearance is consistent with the description but is not conclusive. Around him devotees in orange caps, orange shawls, white kurta and red jackets press against a rope barrier, while spectators watch from a balcony above the whitewashed wall. Strings of flower garlands and bunting line the scene.2006-05-26May 01 20162016-05-01
