Night photo of a very large crowd seated on the ground at an outdoor evening satsang or Maha Shivaratri gathering, lit by bright overhead floodlights and a tented stage in the background. Most attendees wear white shirts and dhotis or white kurtas, with some in checked shirts, and a few men wear red or orange cloths over their shoulders. A man in front wears a white polo shirt and a red shoulder cloth, and a woman at right wears a dark patterned sari. Many hold open books or chant in a meditative posture. Some people stand at the right edge in white clothing with lanyards.2015-02-17A large night-time outdoor gathering of seated devotees fills the frame, packed densely across an open ground lit by tall floodlights and strings of lights along the edges. In the foreground, a woman with glasses and a rudraksha mala wears an orange robe beside a shaved-headed sannyasi in orange with a white forehead mark. Most attendees wear white clothing and white shawls. A man in a white shawl and dark turban-like headwrap sits center, and others in white and light colours fill the rows. Screens and lights glow faintly near the stage; the crowd extends into darkness.2015-02-17September 15 20152015-09-15 +1 copiesA large outdoor night gathering of many seated devotees in dense rows on a field, most dressed in white shirts with dark rudraksha-style beaded necklaces, while others wear orange, saffron, striped or checked clothes and some wear head cloths or orange head scarves. Floodlights and a strip of festive string lights glow at the back. Near the centre, a bearded figure in a long orange-saffron robe sits among the crowd, distinguished by his long white beard and flowing saffron garment; this is an appearance-based candidate for a person, seated in the crowd and not on a throne, with the cues being the saffron robe and long beard, which is uncertain enough to set a person to unsure. Many people sit with eyes closed in meditation.2010-02-12December 29 20102010-12-29A large night-time satsang audience sits on a dark ground facing a distant illuminated open-sided stage under a tent-like canopy with stage lights.
