A large seated congregation of devotees performs a lamp ritual in a hall, many holding lit oil lamps and small brass lamps. In the front row, women in white saris with yellow shawls and some with orange-red shawls hold lamps, prayer books and brass plates with flowers and offerings on orange cloths. Rudraksha malas are visible on several necks, and a few women wear tilak. Behind them many more devotees in white clothing sit with hands joined or holding flames. At the far left edge, a white draped altar or dais is partly visible. The scene suggests a collective aarti or puja with lamps.
