Many have faces and clothes smeared with bright pink, blue, yellow and purple powder. A woman in a white sari with a yellow-green shawl looks upward, and a girl in the foreground wears a pastel gown streaked with colour. A young girl in a white top with a rudraksha-style mala and a boy in a pale checked shirt at the lower right are also visible. The scene reads as a colour-powder celebration. Around him, a crowd of devotees watches and reacts; several people in orange, blue and teal clothing, some with white vibhuti or kumkum marks on their foreheads and rudraksha malas. A bald man in an orange shirt and red-orange clothing with a rudraksha mala stands at right, holding a brass or metal pot, while others nearby hold similar vessels. Trees and a red wall form the background, and yellow garlands hang in the upper left. Consistent with Krishna Janmashtami celebrations, with water being poured as part of the festivities.2016-08-25October 17 20102010-10-17Outdoor photo of a crowd on a dusty reddish-brown ground during a festive colour-throwing celebration, with pink, blue and yellow powder scattered across the earth and clothing. Several people in the background wear saffron-orange robes. Behind them stands a large black stone Nandi bull on a brick pedestal, beside an orange-roofed shrine building with a thatched shed and coconut palms. A small child in a white top and jeans walks in the foreground, and a woman in a green sari with a black handbag stands at the front right.2010-10-17Night photo of a sandy outdoor ground lit by bright floodlights, showing a group of young boys and teenagers in orange and saffron clothing dancing and playing a game in motion. Several boys in orange shirts and dhotis stretch arms and leap, some in red-and-blue track pants. Behind them, older men in saffron-orange robes and white garments stand and sit watching, a bare-chested man with a mala-like neck adornment at right.
