July 02 20042004-07-02July 02 20042004-07-02Outdoor ritual photograph beneath a large banyan tree with thick aerial roots. A barefoot man in saffron-orange robes and an orange turban, with a long rudraksha mala, raises a brass arati lamp with flame toward the sky while holding a small handbell in the other hand. Behind him a woman in white with a bindi and dark standing figures watch. Seated in the foreground, a bearded man in white clothes gestures with open hands beside a wooden side table bearing a brass kalasha and a brass puja vessel, and a row of brass pots and a plate of fruit and flowers lie on the ground. Several seated and standing devotees in white clothes surround the scene, and a rudraksha-adorned priest figure stands at the centre.2004-07-022004 - First Sannyas Deeksha At AdiKailaasa2004-07-02Outdoors on bare earth, a seated man in saffron-orange robes and a long gold bead necklace sits cross-legged on an orange cushion at the centre of a circular ash-lined fire pit, eyes closed with hands folded in his lap, a small brass vessel placed before him on a mat. A red bindi marks his forehead and long dark hair falls past his shoulders. Behind him, three shaved-headed men in white dhotis with bare upper bodies and rudraksha malas sit in meditation or ritual posture across the pit area, with stacked firewood and a wooden post in the background. The scene suggests a homa or yagna site. Swamiji (probable): the central figure shows long swept-back hair, saffron robes and a gold necklace, marking him as the probable Swamiji presiding over the rite.2010-10-072004 - First Sannyas Deeksha At AdiKailaasa2004-07-02Outdoor temple ritual at a white-plastered shrine. Behind a black Nandi bull statue garlanded with yellow and red flowers, several men in white dhotis and yellow shawls stand or sit around the ash circles. A man in white with an orange shawl stands at right. Palm trees and a brick wall form the background.2010-07-14July 20 20102010-07-20July 20 20102010-07-20July 02 20042004-07-02Outdoor ritual scene at a sandy site beside white stepped structures.
