A seated meal-offering scene in a pink-walled hall with a tiled floor. Rows of people sit cross-legged on mats in saffron and orange robes, several with hands in anjali, facing a shrine with deity murti and a small screen. In front of them are banana-leaf plates with food and brass cups, as at an annadan. In the foreground, men with bare upper bodies and white dhotis, some with rudraksha malas, sit with their backs to the camera. A cameraman with a video camera stands at the right. Hanging decorations and a stage backdrop are visible. Roughly 40 or more people are visible.2018-01-08January 08 20182018-01-08September 30 20162016-09-30Wide view of a large hall during a group ritual meal or puja, with rows of seated participants in saffron-orange dhotis and shawls, many with orange turbans and rudraksha malas, sitting cross-legged on mats before green leaf plates laden with food and small brass cups. Several in the foreground have hands folded in anjali. At the far end, a man in white stands near a decorated stage with a deity backdrop and flower arrangement. Two large screens display a woman in red and white, and an oil lamp burns at the lower right. Ceiling lanterns and a chandelier hang overhead, and white-clad devotees sit toward the right.2018-01-08January 08 20182018-01-08A wide photograph inside a large hall with pink walls and hanging lanterns, showing a long row of sannyasis seated on the floor in saffron-orange dhotis and orange turbans, many bare-chested with ash markings. Leaves and small brass cups with food offerings are set in front of them on green leaf plates. Further back, seated devotees in white dhotis and shawls face a stage where performers in white and coloured costumes stand, and a screen shows a bright image. A video camera on a tripod records the scene at right. A standing figure in black stands at the centre aisle. The sannyasi in front on the right wears a painted face and a long braid, with a kumkum mark on the forehead; no candidate is clearly identifiable as a person.2018-01-08Photo of a seated group of men in an indoor hall with a light tiled floor, sitting in a row on straw mats before banana-leaf plates of food and rows of white paper cups. The men at the front wear white dhotis with gold borders and bare upper bodies with rudraksha malas, hands pressed in anjali; behind them, men in saffron-orange robes with beaded necklaces and shaved heads sit with palms joined. A wooden cabinet, a framed portrait on the back wall, orange and red drapes, and an ornate golden chair on a raised platform appear in the background. A woman sits at the far right edge. The setting suggests a ritual meal or annadan at an ashram hall.2011-11-07October 23 20152015-10-23A photograph of a long dining hall where saffron-robed sannyasis sit cross-legged on the floor in rows, many with hands folded in prayer. Several wear rudraksha malas and white forehead markings; one front-left figure has eyes closed and hands clasped. Opposite them, people in white clothes sit along the line in front of large green banana-leaf plates of rice and vegetable dishes, with steel tumblers and small bowls. A large screen on the far wall shows a colourful image, and framed photo collages hang on the left wall. A ceiling fan and fluorescent lights are visible. This appears to be a communal meal in an ashram setting.2017-03-14January 08 20182018-01-08November 11 20162016-11-11 +1 copiesJanuary 08 20182018-01-08
