Brass lamps, kalasha-style vessels and a small offering tray sit on the ledge. A seated figure in saffron robes appears near the offerings at the shrine base. Behind the priest, several white-clad devotees stand in a courtyard beside red-painted buildings and a corrugated roof, with greenery visible through an open gate. The scene looks like a puja or aarti at the shrine.2010-11-12November 25 20062006-11-25Photograph of a temple ritual in a covered shrine hall with red pillars. Four priests perform abhishekam at a small bronze deity murti set on a wooden stand. The priest in front wears an orange shawl over his shoulder and holds a bundle of green leaves raised over the deity. A priest beside him in white dhoti with red borders pours from a silver vessel. Another priest in white with red-bordered cloth bends forward over the murti, and a fourth stands behind in white with red trim. A figure in an orange wrap sits near the shrine, and a red-and-gold canopied structure with garlands, a golden throne and a large deity image in red garments stands at the back. Brass and silver bowls and a gold plate sit on the floor. Nobody in the scene is identifiable as a person by the visible appearance cues.2010-11-12A photograph of a temple shrine during worship. A large deity murti in a golden arched niche is draped with marigold garlands and red and orange flowers, and it sits on a white and red decorated pedestal. Several men in saffron-orange robes stand at the granite platform in front, one holding a lamp toward the deity and another tending offerings on silver trays with flowers. A man in a yellow shawl and white clothes stands at left beside a fellow in orange holding a long staff. Red curtains frame the open pavilion, and white plants and flowers decorate its edges. The scene looks like a puja or aarti in progress.2008-12-26 +1 copies
