A photograph of an outdoor initiation at the Kumbh Mela. A man with long swept-back dark hair, wearing a rust-red shawl, a long ornate gold necklace, and a thick brown rudraksha mala, stands on a raised platform and extends his right hand to rest on the head of a kneeling devotee. The devotee wears a white garment, an orange-and-saffron scarf printed with text, and white ash marks on the forehead, and holds his palms together. A tall silver and gold ceremonial staff stands behind them. Crowds in saffron and white clothing fill the background, and a golden lion-shaped object sits at the lower right. The man is a probable Swamiji by his long swept-back hair, ornate gold necklace, rudraksha mala and red-brown clothing, performing a blessing on the kneeling devotee.2016-05-16May 16 20162016-05-16May 16 20162016-05-16A photograph of a healing or initiation moment at an outdoor gathering. A man with long, swept-back dark hair, a rudraksha mala draped over his shoulders, a heavy gold necklace and a rust-red wrap stands at right, placing his right palm on the crown of a seated man's head. The seated man wears a white shirt and has his eyes closed while his face tilts upward. In the background, people in white and orange clothing fill the crowd, a gold ornament sits at the lower right, and a black electronic keyboard unit stands on a table. Gold and silver ceremonial poles frame the scene.2016-05-16May 16 20162016-05-16A man with long swept-back dark hair, a red bindi and white forehead markings sits eyes closed on an ornate silver and red throne. He wears a rust-orange shawl over the shoulder and a ceremonial gold necklace with rudraksha malas. In the foreground, a devotee in white with a dark curly head and an orange-red sash bends forward with palms pressed together. Blurred white-clad people and a dim background fill the room. Appearance-based label: a person, seated in person on the throne as the honoured figure.2017-08-13Photograph of a seated figure with long dark hair, wearing an orange-brown saffron-toned garment and a long orange-brown beaded necklace, with a red bindi and white tripundra marks on the forehead, placing both palms on the head of a kneeling man in a purple-and-white checked shirt. Other men stand behind in white dhotis and shirts, and orange cloth hangs in the background beside an ornate golden pillar. A gold ceremonial offering tray sits in the foreground. The seated figure has distinctive long swept hair and saffron clothing with a beaded mala, consistent with a person blessing a devotee in a ritual setting.2013-04-20July 17 20132013-07-17A seated figure with long dark hair tied back, a white vibhuti mark and red kumkum on the forehead, wearing a saffron-red robe with gold border and layered bead necklaces, extends his arm to touch the forehead of a man in a white kurta with a rudraksha mala. Two golden lion-headed seats or ornaments sit beside him, and a woman in red-brown clothing watches in the background, with a camera on a tripod nearby. The scene suggests a blessing or initiation moment in an indoor hall. Swamiji (probable): the seated figure has long swept-back hair, ornate gold-and-bead necklaces and saffron-red clothing.2014-03-06A photo of a seated man in a saffron-orange robe and a multi-row rudraksha mala with a white vertical tilak on his forehead, long dark hair swept back, sitting on a gold ornate throne with a peacock-feather fan behind him. He places his right hand on the forehead of a man in a white shirt and white trousers wearing a red-and-rudraksha mala, who stands close with his eyes lowered. A bowl of red apples and a small brass kalasha-like object sit on a cloth in front, with potted plants and a partly visible person at the left edge. The scene appears to be a blessing or darshan moment in a room with cream walls.2015-02-21May 05 20142014-05-05August 12 20172017-08-12 +1 copies
