A photograph of a ritual abhishekam at a temple shrine, with white powder being poured over three small murtis on a glass-topped platform. On the left, a golden standing deity figure is dusted with white powder; in the centre, a small shrine-shaped peetha or stone structure with a tiered gold base is covered in white; on the right, a figure in a red and gold garment with a tall crown is also dusted white. A person in a brown and gold dhoti or cloth stands at the upper left, pouring the powder from a white bowl. Red drapery and a dark stone wall form the background. No people are otherwise visible.2016-03-07February 24 20172017-02-24A photograph of a ritual at a temple shrine where white powder. The powder cascades over three small golden and white metal murtis set on a raised platform: a small figure on the left, a conical shivalinga-like pedestal in the centre, and a standing figure in red and white draped clothing on the right, all dusted white. Behind them are red and green draped cloths and strings of yellow flowers. The scene suggests a powder abhishekam offering to deity murtis.2016-03-07March 07 20162016-03-07September 19 20112011-09-19A photograph of a Shivalinga abhishekam at night. A priest in a rust-red dhoti with a gold border, with a gold-banded upper cloth and a bangle on his wrist, pours water from a brass vessel over a tall black Shivalinga standing on a dark stone yoni pedestal. Behind the linga, a red silk backdrop draped with gold trim. In front, two gold-coloured figures: a small gold standing figure on the left and a gold-and-red robed deity murti on the right. Water streams down onto a golden kalasha at the base.2016-03-07A photograph of an abhishekam in progress: water pours over a dark-stained metal deity murti standing on a gold base, beside a brass figure holding a flaming torch-like lamp. Behind them, a seated figure in orange-saffron robes sits on an ornate gold throne draped with red-and-white flower garlands, with a red cushion. A white-draped table sits in front. No people are clearly visible apart from the seated figure's hands and robes, so the seated person is not counted as a clearly identifiable candidate.2012-01-08A shaven-headed priest in an orange-red dhoti and wrap with a gold border stands at a black stone shivalinga on a dark pedestal, pouring milk or water over it from a large brass vessel held in both hands. White liquid streams down the lingam. Behind him are gold-framed deity figures, garlands of yellow and purple flowers, and red blossoms. On the left stands a gilded statue of a standing figure with raised hand, and at lower right a white marble statue of a figure in a turban. This appears to be abhishekam at a temple shrine. The visible people are the single priest.2011-03-03June 22 20132013-06-22 +1 copiesMarch 07 20162016-03-07March 07 20162016-03-07A photograph of a ritual abhishekam being performed on a white marble statue of a seated sage in meditation pose. A person in a red sari with gold border pours water from a brass vessel over the statue, water streaming down its head and body. Beside the statue sits a small golden shivalinga-style yantra or peetha on a golden base, and a smaller carved bronze deity murti stands to the right. The setting is a temple with a blurred green background and a red wall behind a metal grille. The statue is a sculpture, not a living person.2011-03-03 +1 copies
