March 11 20132013-03-11March 11 20132013-03-11March 01 20162016-03-01 +1 copiesOutdoor photo of a man in saffron/orange robes with a long swept-back dark crown of hair, red and white flower garlands and a brown rudraksha mala, hoisting a white rope upward with both hands. Beside him stands an ornately carved brown temple-style pillar or kalasha wrapped in flower garlands with red blossoms and green leaves, under a palm-and-tree background. The scene reflects a dwajarohanam flag-hoisting at a temple. The man matches the Swamiji (probable) cues of swept-back hair, saffron clothing and rudraksha mala, and is shown leading the flag-hoisting ritual.2016-01-11January 02 20102010-01-02 +1 copiesJuly 22 20132013-07-22October 05 20132013-10-05A woman in a maroon blouse and orange-gold skirt stands beside a golden ornamental pillar draped with yellow marigold garlands, reaching up to pull a rope with her right hand. She wears red flower garlands, a gold-and-brown embroidered collar, gold bangles and earrings, and a red tilak on her forehead. Palm trees and a bright sky form the background. A second person's arm in orange cloth with bangles appears at the right edge, holding the rope. The scene suggests the raising of a flag during a festival, with the flag rope being pulled.2014-11-26January 11 20162016-01-11A photograph of a saffron-robed sannyasi standing outdoors beside a carved stone temple pillar draped with white and red flower garlands. He holds a rope in his raised right hand and looks down with eyes closed, wearing a tall bun of dark hair, a red tilak on his forehead, long rudraksha malas and red-and-white flower garlands around his neck. Palm trees and greenery fill the background, and a bundle of leaves sits atop the pillar. The scene reflects the flag-hoisting rite at the start of a Brahmotsavam, though the flag itself is not visible. The man's identity cannot be confirmed from appearance, and no printed caption names him here.2016-01-11October 05 20132013-10-05Outdoor evening photograph of a figure in an orange-saffron dhoti and shawl with a long red and gold garland, holding a small bell in one hand and a small oil lamp or incense vessel in the other while looking up toward a tall copper-toned ceremonial kalasha-style pillar or flagstaff. The pillar is wrapped with yellow marigold garlands and topped with bundled grass, with flower offerings at its base and palm trees behind.2013-03-11
