A photograph of a ritual stage in an indoor hall, with a golden mountain-like backdrop against a blue painted wall. Two young men in saffron-orange robes and orange shawls, wearing marigold garlands, sit cross-legged on the left of a raised platform. In the centre is a deity murti of a seated couple draped in a green cloth and a yellow canopy, garlanded with red and white flower strings, with a golden trident hanging on the right. Brass oil lamps, bowls of offerings, fruit and white items are arranged on a tiered white altar. Seated devotees in the foreground, some with shaved heads, face the stage. A green light glows behind the group, and the scene suggests a homa ritual.2009-07-01A photograph of a ritual stage with a golden-orange draped canopy against a blue backdrop. Two young men in saffron-orange robes with beaded necklaces sit cross-legged on the left, one holding a ritual implement near a small fire lit before them. Centre stage stands a deity murti seated on a green-draped platform, decorated with red and white flower garlands, with a golden trident mounted on the right. Brass lamps, a kalasha-style vessel, plates of offerings and fruit sit on a white-tiled altar, and seated devotees fill the foreground at the bottom edge. This appears to be a homa-style ritual.2009-07-01Two young men in saffron-orange robes perform a homa at a deity murti set against a painted blue backdrop with a snow-capped mountain. A figure seated on a red and gold throne with a harp-like gilt backdrop sits with palms joined in namaskar, wearing an orange robe and long swept-back dark hair; the appearance is distinctive enough to be a probable Swamiji (probable) candidate, seated above the ritual. Before him, a woman in an orange sari sits on the floor with her hands over a silver plate, while a young man in white kurta with an orange shawl kneels at left, and another man in white with an orange shawl holds a garland of white flowers at right. Brass figures of deities stand behind them, with an oil lamp burning, silver bowls, fruit and flowers arranged on a low table.2006-08-24Night-time puja at an open stone pavilion with grey carved pillars and strings of small lights overhead. In the foreground, a man in saffron-orange robes and a patterned conical hat sits cross-legged before a brass tray of offerings, pink lotus, a small kalasha and bowls. Beside him, a white-cloth-draped altar holds a deity murti decorated with yellow and orange marigold garlands, a gold necklace and a white turban-like head covering. Behind it, large painted deity figures wear red and green garments, jewelled necklaces and a crown-like headdress, with a red curtain at the right edge. The priest is seated and reading or chanting from loose papers, and brass lamps and vessels stand on the altar.2007-10-16February 23 20072007-02-23A seated man in saffron-orange robes and a matching orange head wrap performs a fire ritual on a tiered white platform decorated with yellow and red flower garlands. A burning wood fire with flames rises at the centre, with brass oil lamps and a bowl of offerings nearby. He gestures with his hands toward a microphone in front of him. Behind the platform, a deity murti stands draped in a green cloth and garlanded with yellow and orange flowers. Bottles of water sit on the platform, and the scene is lit at night with smoke drifting in the background. The ritual appears to be a homa or yagna.2007-09-30A ceremonial puja before a decorated deity murti seated on a golden throne-like peetha backed by a colourful arch. The murti wears garlands of yellow, white and multicoloured flowers and a red garment. In the foreground a standing man in saffron-orange clothing and a long white and multicoloured flower garland holds a small bell in one hand and a flame or lamp in the other. Beside him a bare-chested priest with a shaved head, wearing saffron cloth and a rudraksha mala, kneels over a large brass bowl where a fire burns with flower offerings around its rim.
