A street procession of devotees in white traditional clothing walks behind a flower-decorated vehicle. The vehicle is covered in pink, white and yellow garlands with pink flower clusters and a small red and orange pennant on top. Men in white dhotis and shirts and women in white saris walk on a dusty road lined with trees and bicycles. A man in a white dhoti and shirt near the front carries nothing visible. Several onlookers stand at the roadside, and a white flag flies on a pole to the left.

A street procession in an Indian town, with a flower-decorated float or palanquin visible in the background behind the marchers. In the foreground, several men in saffron and orange sannyasi-style cloth walk together, some bare-shouldered with orange wraps. The man at right-centre has long dark swept-back hair, a dark tilak mark, and a gold ornamental necklace with a pendant over an orange garment, which is a distinctive cue, but his face and identity are not established here, so the figure is described by role as a sannyasi in procession. Behind them, men in white shirts and white dhotis walk among devotees along a street lined with multi-storey shops and signboards. Garlands and flower petals are visible.

Outdoor procession on a village road under a pale sky. A large vehicle or float is completely wrapped in garlands of marigolds, white jasmine-like flowers, pink and magenta blossoms and green leaves, with small saffron and red pennants on top. Beside it, a crowd walks in the street: men in white dhotis and shirts, women in white saris and a woman in a purple sari with a red blouse at left, one person in a blue-patterned white garment at right. Overhead power lines and trees line the roadside. The scene reads as a funeral or memorial procession with a flower-decorated carriage.

A photograph of a temple procession at a South Indian temple. In the centre, a man in an orange saffron robe wears a long garland of red and white flowers, a gold necklace with a pendant, and a white forehead mark; he stands beside a metal rail. Beside him, another young man in orange robes and a white-marked forehead holds the rail. At right, a bearded man in orange robes with glasses and a rudraksha mala holds a long metal pole. To the left, men in white shirts and white dhotis with vibhuti marks stand among the crowd. Behind them, a gold ratha/palanquin decorated with pink and white flower garlands carries a deity murti under a gold canopy, with a tall temple gopuram visible behind.

Outdoor street procession in front of a decorated temple chariot. A deity murti is seated on the ratha, heavily garlanded with yellow and red flower strands and draped in marigold and jasmine garlands. Several men stand in the foreground. A central figure in an orange saffron robe, with a long-haired, swept-back style and white tilak, wears a thick green-and-white flower garland. Beside him a man in an all-white dhoti and shirt holds his hands together and wears a garland. To the left a bald man in an orange robe wears heavy gold beaded necklaces. Men in white shirts and dhotis surround them, some with white tilaks, and a man at right in a white dhoti holds a garland. Tall trees stand behind the chariot.

In the centre, a young man with long dark hair and white vertical forehead marks wears a saffron-orange robe and a heavy gold necklace, draped in a thick garland of red roses, white jasmine and green leaves. Behind him stands a bearded man in saffron robes holding a tall silver staff. Around them crowd men in white shirts and dhotis, some with sandalwood and kumkum marks. Behind them a golden palanquin with pink and white flower garlands carries a deity murti, and a tall gopuram tower rises in the background.

Outdoor temple procession in daylight. A long-haired man in saffron-orange robes, wearing a gold necklace and a red-and-white flower garland, stands with a white tilak on his forehead at the centre of the frame. Several men in white shirts and trousers line the chariot pole and crowd around him. Behind them a gold-canopied ratha/chariot draped with pink and white flower garlands carries a deity murti. A tall gopuram stands in the background. An older bearded man in saffron robes holds a silver staff. Only the central figure's appearance is distinctive; no identity is established by the scene itself.

A street procession in Tiruvannamalai, India, with a large vehicle decorated with garlands of yellow marigolds, pink and white flowers and green foliage, flying small red and white flags. A dense crowd of mostly white-clad devotees walks alongside, including men in white dhotis and shirts and women in white and colourful saris. Overhead power lines, trees and low buildings line the road under bright daylight. The adorned vehicle appears to be a ratha carrying flowers, with the crowd following in procession. No individual can be clearly identified as a person from appearance in this view.

Night procession with a deity murti carried on a decorated ratha or palanquin framed by a large arch of striped and pink flower garlands with yellow and green paper-like scallops. A man in a saffron-orange robe with long dark hair and a rudraksha mala looks up toward the deity, under an orange and blue decorated umbrella held by a man in white. Around them, men in white dhotis and shirts carry or steady the palanquin, and one man in a white shirt with a rudraksha mala and bangle leans in at right. Approximately ten people are visible. Printed copyright text sits at lower right.

A bare-chested priest with a red rudraksha mala and white sandal marks on his forehead stands at left. Devotees in white shirts and dhotis crowd around, and a child in an orange top stands at upper right. A temple gopuram with colourful sculpted figures appears in the background among trees.
