Night photograph of a terraced stone stairway lined with black Shiva lingams on red-painted steps, each base holding a small lit oil lamp. Several people in white traditional clothing move along the tiers, bending to place or tend the lamps. A string of small lights runs along a fence above, and a tall lingam stands prominently in the foreground. The scene appears to be a Karthikai Deepam lamp-lighting at a temple.

Night photograph of a riverside ghat where a row of devotees perform abhishekam on black Shiva lingams set on a stone step. In the foreground an older bare-chested man in white dhoti with a gold-coloured sash pours liquid from a golden horn-shaped vessel onto a lingam, while a younger man beside him does the same. Brass pots and bowls of water, marigold-coloured offerings and small oil lamps surround the lingams. Behind them, women in red and orange saris and men in white sit along the steps, with crowds and lit banners visible on the far bank. No candidate for a person is clearly visible in the foreground.

Night photograph of a row of black stone Shivalingams on a raised platform, each wrapped in white cloth. A woman in a white sari with a gold border leans forward, tending a lingam with her hands. Other white-clad devotees stand in the background, and a figure in purple is visible behind them. The scene suggests a ritual abhishekam or puja.
