A photograph of workmen in a workshop with a red-washed wall at left. Four men sit among piles of carved wooden panels and mouldings. A man at left wears an orange-and-white striped head wrap and a white long-sleeved top. A man in a blue striped shirt works behind him. A man in a red-and-black striped polo with a white towel over his shoulder carves a moulding in his hands. A man in a white checked shirt sits at the upper right. Behind them a yellow table holds gilded deity-like ornaments, including a golden elephant-headed figure and a gold lion-like ornament, and a camera operator in white stands at the back.

Four men sit cross-legged on a bare concrete floor in a plain whitewashed room, carving white stone or plaster figures with chisels and hammers. The man at far left wears a light blue short-sleeved shirt and a checked lungi; the second man, barefoot and bare-chested, works on a small figure; the third wears a white shirt and dark lungi; the man at far right wears a checked shirt and shorts and holds a carved piece. Scattered tools, wood blocks, chips of white powder and a pink cloth lie on the floor, and clothes hang on the wall behind them. The image shows craftsmen making sculptures, with no ritual or a person visible.

Three men sit on a floor in a workshop carving white stone or plaster sculpture parts, with golden deity statues on shelves behind them. On the left, an older man with grey hair and glasses, wearing a white shirt and white dhoti with an orange border, holds a chisel and mallet over a wooden block. In the centre, a man in a red-and-white checked shirt and white dhoti works beside a red bucket. On the right, a man in a cream shirt and white dhoti holds a pale carved foot. Tools and wooden sticks lie on the ground in front, and the golden figures on the wall are unfinished-looking sculpture work.

Two men work on wooden pieces in an outdoor workshop strewn with planks, offcuts and wood shavings. The older man on the left, in a white shirt and white dhoti, holds a chisel against a wooden block. The younger man on the right, in a white striped shirt and grey trousers, sits on a wooden block and steadies the wood with both hands. A white plastic chair, stacked lumber and a corded electric tool sit nearby, and stone pieces lie at the left edge.

A photograph in a thatched-roof open hall with a grille and cement-block walls. A man in saffron-orange robes sits in the foreground, his long dark hair pulled over one shoulder, holding it with a raised hand. Beside him stands a carved wooden and gilded deity murti or altar piece, and a brass lamp stands near. Behind, several men in orange robes and a man in white kurta and dhoti stand watching; one holds a book. Wooden tools and a mallet lie on the floor at left.

Two men work on a large stacked wooden structure outdoors beside a thatched-roof shed and a palm frond. The man on the left leans over the wood, wearing a blue and white striped shirt, maroon lungi and an orange wristband, using a tool on the top panel. The man on the right sits on the edge of the structure in a white patterned shirt and orange-brown lungi, holding a piece of wood. Wooden planks and offcuts lie around them on sandy ground.

Two men work on a large carved wooden structure on a concrete floor in an open workshop. The man on the left wears a white sleeveless vest and checked lungi and bends over the wooden piece; the man on the right wears a grey sleeveless vest and checked shorts and kneels, holding a small tool. The wooden piece is a rounded, arched panel with raised carved moulding and a finial-like ornament. Scattered wood shavings, hand tools, a green plastic bottle and carved wooden fragments surround them, and a third worker in a white vest is partly visible in the background near a stacked pile of carved panels.

Two young men sit on the concrete floor of an open workshop carving a wooden piece with chisels and mallets. The man on the left wears a white sleeveless vest and checked lungi and steadies the wooden block with his hands. The man on the right wears a grey sleeveless vest and checked lungi and strikes the wood with a small mallet. Shavings and wood offcuts lie around them. Behind them, a third worker in a white vest works at another piece, and carved stone panels and a terracotta pot are visible against a block wall.
