In the centre a shaved-headed man in a white kurta carries a long black pole topped with an orange flag, wearing a rudraksha mala and a small red tilak on his forehead, and smiling while holding the pole with both hands. Behind him a large golden umbrella-like canopy with red and floral embroidery rises above the crowd. To the left a man in a blue shirt holds a black pole and wears a rudraksha mala. Foreground men in white shirts wear tilaka and red-and-white lanyards, one with a rudraksha mala, holding white banners. Behind them many devotees in white clothes carry orange and white flags bearing a blue logo, and a woman in an orange top walks at left. Orange and multicoloured festival poles rise above the crowd, and a blue flag with a white bird flies at upper left.2006-01-01A procession on a roadside lined with green foliage. In the centre, a bearded man in an orange-saffron kurta with a saffron shawl and wire-rimmed glasses walks forward, flanked by men in white kurtas and white dhotis with yellow shawls and rudraksha malas. A man in sunglasses and a white kurta with a rudraksha mala pats a companion's shoulder, and a man on the right raises a hand holding a white rod, wearing a yellow shawl and a round badge bearing a portrait. Orange-red flags wave in the background, and a pedestrian in a striped shirt watches from the right. No clearly identifiable crown, long swept hair or ornate figure is present that would support identifying the orange-robed man as a person, so he is described by role only.2010-07-24
