A homa fire burns in a hall with a golden, gem-studded throne at the back. A man in orange-red robes and a matching turban sits on the throne, hands pressed together in namaskar, with a garland of marigolds and red flowers around his neck and gold bangles on his wrists. In the foreground, a priest in orange-red dhoti and a red head cloth leans forward pouring an offering from a brass vessel into the flames. Seated priests in saffron and white clothing, one with a rudraksha mala, sit behind the fire pit. Golden ceremonial standards with tridents and a gold umbrella frame the throne, and brass lamps with lit wicks stand at the left edge. Large white fans and a row of standing and seated attendants fill the background.2015-07-06July 22 20132013-07-22A fire ritual in a covered hall at night. A standing priest in saffron-orange turban and dhoti with a golden-yellow border holds a brass lamp of flame in both hands, and a large fire pit blazes before him. Marigold garlands surround the scene, with brass vessels, a drum and a silver tray in front. Seated at left on a red and gold throne is a figure in orange robes with a gold necklace, facing the fire. Dense smoke fills the air and a crowd of onlookers sits in the background. The visible people are the standing priest and the seated figure, with more onlookers behind them.2013-10-13July 16 20152015-07-16A homa fire burns in a brick fire pit in a hall with a gold throne and ceremonial gold standards behind it. A man in orange-brown dhoti and shawl with gold borders, wearing a red-and-white flower garland and a gold necklace, stands with palms pressed in namaskar. A second priest in a rust-orange turban and rudraksha mala pours liquid from a metal vessel into the fire. Two women in orange saris stand in the background, and a few devotees are visible at right near brass lamps. Offering bowls and oil lamps sit near the fire pit. The photo depicts a fire ritual, with a visible priest appearance-cued as a person by the page; the figure with the orange turban and rudraksha mala is the officiant, while the garlanded man is shown in namaskar. Identity is uncertain from appearance alone.2015-10-12July 09 20152015-07-09July 17 20152015-07-17A temple-style ritual hall during a homa or puja. In the centre, a seated figure in orange and saffron robes with a red-and-orange garland sits on an ornate gold throne with a large multicoloured halo-shaped backrest and gold lion armrests; the figure's appearance is not clearly established, so the identity is uncertain. In the foreground, a man with a red turban, bare chest, gold necklaces and a yellow shawl holds a lit oil lamp beside a fire pit with flames and offerings of fruit, flowers and sweets. A bare-chested man in white dhoti and gold necklaces sits at right beside a standing attendant in white with a garland. Brass lamps, kalasha-style vessels, fruit trays and marigold garlands cover a striped cloth, and a gold deity murti stands in an alcove at right.2016-02-02A seated man in saffron-orange robes, a white flower garland and a gold-beaded chain sits on an ornate gold-and-red throne behind a fire pit where flames rise from a wooden structure decorated with flowers. A bare-chested priest in white dhoti with a blue border and a pink-turbaned priest in white with a gold-bordered cloth pour from a silver vessel and hold a ceremonial object near the fire. Behind them, several people in white dhotis, orange garments and saffron-and-red saris stand, some wearing rudraksha malas. The setting appears to be an outdoor courtyard with green mats and a fan at left. The seated figure has long hair and a shawl, which are appearance cues only, so identity remains uncertain.2016-07-03July 22 20132013-07-22A photograph of a homa ritual in a covered open hall with a tiled floor.
