Many men in white dhotis and white shirts walk in the crowd, with a few women in orange and red saris among them. Several people carry long poles or staffs. Behind them a palanquin-style float decorated with a red-and-white canopy, a fringe of multicoloured streamers and a deity murti is lit by lamps.
