Night procession on a dirt road with a crowd of devotees in white dhotis and white saris, many with arms raised. A saffron-robed monk with a shaved head walks near the centre-left, wearing orange cloth and a dark sash. Nearby women in blue and light blue saris and plaits stand in the crowd, and a ceremonial pennant with a red and gold emblem on a pole rises at right. Green trees, a red wall and lit streetlights and a sign in the background.2013-03-10March 10 20132013-03-10Night photo of a large crowd gathered on a dirt ground beneath trees at a festival procession. Many people in white dhotis and white shirts, women in saris and salwar kameez, and children fill the scene; several raise hands in devotion. A bald man in an orange-saffron robe stands near the center, his arms bent, and an older man in a light saffron cloth stands beside him. A yellow-flowering tree and a pennant with a red emblem appear at the right, and a white vehicle is parked at the edge. The count is far above twenty, so the scene holds well over twenty people.2013-03-10A night-time outdoor gathering on dirt ground beneath a tree with yellow blossoms and a steel frame structure behind. A large crowd of devotees, mostly men in white shirts and white dhotis, some in orange or saffron robes and a few women in colourful saris and salwar, press together with hands raised and palms folded. A red-clad figure stands at left, and a small child is visible among the crowd. At upper right a white vehicle and a tall pole carry a decorated orange and red ornamental banner. The scene appears to be a celebratory or devotional procession with people moving and reaching outward.2013-03-10December 23 20162016-12-23Night procession on a dirt road at a temple-like site, with a large crowd of men dressed in white dhotis and white shirts, many holding their hands together in devotion. Two yellow and orange ceremonial banners on poles rise above the crowd. On the right, a white van is stopped with several people riding on its roof, one wearing an orange shirt. A bare tree with small lights hangs on the left, and a few people in striped and dark shirts stand at the front edge of the frame.2013-03-10December 17 20112011-12-17December 17 20112011-12-17A night-time photograph of a dense outdoor crowd at a festival procession, with many people dancing and raising their hands in celebration. Most are men in white dhotis and white shirts, with some women in saris and a few in saffron or yellow headwear. Several umbrellas in red, yellow and orange rise above the crowd. Strings of coloured lights and an illuminated temple tower with a decorated chariot appear in the background. A man in the lower right wears a yellow turban, bare chest and beaded ornaments. The page suggests a birthday celebration, but the scene shows only the crowd and procession.2016-12-23December 17 20112011-12-17Night-time outdoor gathering at an ashram-style compound with a red brick building behind. A crowd of devotees in white clothes, many men in white shirts and dhotis and women in white saris with gold borders, stands close together with arms raised and hands folded. Some hold their palms up in devotion while others clap or wave. A bright illuminated vehicle or float is visible at the far left, and a blue tarpaulin hangs at the right edge. People wear rudraksha-style beaded necklaces and lanyards. No individual can be confidently identified as a person from appearance, so the scene is described by roles only as a devotional procession or celebration.2015-11-11A dense nighttime street crowd celebrating outdoors under strings of blue and green fairy lights and a large decorative umbrella at upper right. Women in colourful saris, including pink, yellow and orange, dance with raised hands and clapping, many smiling. Men in white shirts and dhotis stand among them, one wearing a rudraksha mala around his neck. A child is held up in the crowd. Purple and pink stage lighting washes the scene. The mood is festive and joyful.2016-12-23
