March 02 20162016-03-02March 02 20162016-03-02Night photograph of a illuminated processional float on a dark road. A large seated figure in an ornate arch is decked with thick garlands of red, orange and yellow flowers and gold ornaments, lit warmly from the front. Two attendants in white dhoti-style garments with orange shawls stand beside the float at its base. Bare trees and a streetlamp are visible above, with a low brick wall at right. Several dark silhouettes of onlookers or bearers stand in the foreground. The seated figure appears to be a deity murti or statue rather than a living person, so no appearance-based candidate is identified.2015-02-03Night outdoor ritual at an ashram courtyard. On the left, a golden deity murti or utsava image is adorned with garlands of yellow and red flowers and sheltered beneath a multicoloured canopy with fringed edges. In front, a low table covered with white and peach cloth holds brass plates, a small bell and a dish. A young man in white dhoti, bare-chested, holds a flaming torch and presses his palms together. Beside him, a man in white stands with a lit lamp. Several people in white clothes and saffron-toned garments stand behind, some with hands folded. Speakers and a parked red auto-rickshaw are at the right, and a brick wall lies behind the group.2013-01-09A night procession moves along a dark path. At centre, a figure in a dark robe with a light-coloured garland walks ahead of an illuminated chariot (ratha) decorated with strings of lights, tassels and a colourful canopy. Behind them, a dark ornate parasol is held aloft. On the left, a person in white clothing with a rudraksha mala and a saffron-trimmed cloth stands with hands folded. Several other people in dark clothes walk nearby, and a crescent moon shows in the upper left.2016-02-17November 20 20102010-11-20February 03 20152015-02-03February 17 20162016-02-17December 24 20112011-12-24Night photograph of a procession on a dark road.
