March 05 20182018-03-05A photo inside a small shrine with brown stone-patterned walls, showing a man with long dreadlocked hair, bare-shouldered and wearing a white and yellow flower garland, holding a lit flame toward a dark, oiled deity murti draped in a yellow cloth. A cameraman with a large lens stands at right, and a few devotees with white-and-tilak marks watch from behind. Bright ceiling lights glow above the shrine, and an orange cloth hangs at the left edge.2018-03-05March 05 20182018-03-05A photograph inside a temple shrine showing a man seen from behind, with long matted dreadlocks and a white and yellow flower garland around his neck and shoulders, holding a lit oil lamp toward a dark stone deity murti of Hanuman, draped in a yellow cloth. The shrine has brown polished stone walls and small ceiling lights. Behind him, a man with a vermilion tilak and a camera operator with a large lens are visible at the right edge. Appearance-based cues on the central figure are his long dreadlocks, garland and ceremonial lamp offering, which are consistent with a person performing aarti at a Hanuman deity; the figure is seen from behind so the identification is uncertain.2018-03-05A photo inside a temple shrine with dark stone walls. On the left, a bare-chested man with long dreadlocks and a white and red forehead mark wears a thick garland of yellow and red flowers and holds a lit oil lamp toward a dark stone deity murti with multiple faces and raised arms. Behind him, a bald priest with a tilak and gold pendant and a second man with tilak stand in white dhotis. A yellow cloth is draped over part of the deity. On the left, a bare-chested man with long matted hair, a yellow and red flower garland and white sacred markings on his forehead stands with palms pressed together in prayer. In the centre, a shaved-headed priest in a yellow dhoti with a white upper cloth, sacred thread and folded hands smiles toward the deity. A second priest in a white dhoti stands behind, and a brass kalasha vessel sits at the base of the murti. A yellow and orange shawl hangs on the wooden door. The scene reads as a puja or darshan at the Anjaneya temple.2018-03-05March 02 20132013-03-02A dim stone chamber with stained, weathered walls shows a bare-chested priest in a yellow dhoti and white cloth bending over a tall black stone lingam, adjusting a white cloth and orange shawl draped on it, with a small yellow flower on top. A second priest standing at left wears an orange dhoti and orange shawl, a mala necklace, and holds a small glass; he is shaven-headed with a tilak-like marking. Small orange and gold objects and dark cloth bags sit on the floor. Two partially visible people appear at the lower left edge. A camera and a phone screen appear at the edges, and a red and white printed graphic sits on the left wall.2012-05-18Photograph inside a temple at night showing a shaved-headed priest in white dhoti and sacred marks on his forehead, seen in profile at left, smiling. In the foreground, a person seen from behind has long dreadlocks wrapped with a wide garland of yellow and white flowers and red blossoms at the nape, and bare shoulders. Behind them stands a large dark black stone murti with glossy surface, and a figure in a sheer yellow cloth. A small oil lamp flame glows at lower right.2018-03-05Two shirtless priests in white dhotis stand before a dark stone murti draped in a yellow and red silk cloth with a green border, garlanded with pink flowers. The priest on the left holds a brass oil lamp with multiple lit wicks in front of the deity, while a lit lamp burns on a stand at the upper right. A golden arched frame surrounds the murti against a grey stone wall. The priests wear sacred threads and rudraksha malas, and their faces are not visible. This is an aarti offering before a deity, shown in a temple shrine.2012-05-21Photograph from behind of a person with long dreadlocked hair wearing a white jasmine garland, kneeling before a large black stone panchamukhi deity murti of Hanuman with multiple faces and arms, in a shrine lined with polished reddish-brown stone. To the left, a man with short hair and a beard, bare-shouldered and wearing a white cloth, kneels in devotion. The scene suggests a puja at the Panchamukhi Anjaneya temple. The dreadlocked figure is shown only from the back, so there is no visible face or distinctive presentation cue beyond the hair and garland.2018-03-05A photograph inside a small shrine with a dark blue cloth backdrop and a deity murti decorated with garlands of white and orange flowers. A bare-chested priest in white dhoti and shawl with red border holds a bell and incense, performing puja. Beside him, a man in saffron-orange robes with a long garland of orange and red flowers stands with hair swept back and gold bangles on the wrist. A cameraman in white shirt and a man in orange clothing stand at the edges. Brass lamps, offering plates and flower petals sit on the altar.2010-08-09
