April 21 20132013-04-21A photograph of a temple ritual centred on a richly decorated murti of a goddess, a female deity with a gold crown, gold face mask and ornate gold and jewelled necklaces, draped in a red and gold sari and framed by dense garlands of red roses, yellow marigolds and green leaves. A man in the foreground wearing a rust-brown dhoti and draped cloth with gold bands, with a white garland and red-and-white flower garlands, smiles while offering a string of pearls or beads, a gold bracelet on his wrist, to the murti. Behind him a second man in white dhoti and white turban with folded hands bows in reverence. The background shows a colourful painted deity figure with multiple arms. The scene suggests an abhishekam or puja offering.2012-04-23 +2 copiesA photograph of a long-haired person in a rust-orange robe with a gold waist band, standing close to two gilded metal deity murtis. A green parrot perches on the person's shoulder near the hair. The person reaches out with a ringed hand to adorn the murtis, which are draped in large garlands of red roses, yellow marigolds and white flowers, and one wears a gold crown. Behind them, a purple and gold brocade cloth hangs, and a figure in white ritual dress stands at the left edge. The person's wrist wears a gold bangle and a beaded band, and a sacred thread is visible. The setting appears to be a temple puja, with flower decoration and devotional adornment as the main activity.2012-04-23April 23 20132013-04-23December 14 20162016-12-14Photograph of a man with long dark hair and a white-and-red forehead marking, wearing an orange-brown garment, a leopard-print wrap, a long rudraksha-style brown mala and layered gold beaded necklaces, with a pink and white flower garland. Before them a large deity murti and a golden shivalinga-like form are heavily adorned with multicolored flower garlands in red, yellow, purple and white, with gold ornaments and a gold kalasha-style base. Behind the garlanded figures, seated deities with crowns and gold jewellery occupy a golden shrine. The setting is a temple mandapa with a gold-painted arch. Two people partly visible at the left edge wear saffron and white. The person in front is identified only by appearance cues: an orange robe, a shaved-looking head with a tilak, and gold bracelets, which do not establish identity; treat as a devotee performing darshan and puja.2015-01-04 +1 copiesA temple worship scene at night: a man with long swept-back dark hair, wearing a reddish-brown dhoti with a pink and white flower garland around his neck and gold bangles, reaches up to adorn a silver-faced deity murti with white and yellow flowers.
