A photograph of a covered temple walkway lined with devotees on both sides behind metal railings. Men in white dhotis and shirts, many with hands folded in namaskar, stand along the left, while women in saris, including pink and beige silk and a red-bordered white sari, stand along the right. At the far end, a figure in orange robes walks toward a brightly decorated shrine with a red and gold backdrop holding deity murtis. Painted pillars with colourful bands frame the passage and wall posters are visible on the right.

Interior of a temple hall where a crowd of devotees moves between steel railings past a tall yellow-clad deity murti garlanded with flowers at left. Most men wear white shirts and white dhotis, while women wear saris in green, blue, pink and orange, some with flowers in their hair. A man in a tan shirt walks through the centre, and a man at right wears an orange shawl. Framed paintings of deities hang on the walls, a blue information board and a tall yellow notice are mounted beside them, and a red-orange flag stands at left near the murti.

A long queue of devotees stands behind metal barrier railings beside a stone temple wall under a corrugated metal shelter at Tiruvannamalai. Men and women wait in a line; a woman in an orange sari stands at the left edge, and women in pink and magenta saris are visible in the queue. Several men wear white dhotis, checked shirts and grey trousers. A bamboo pole supports the barrier, and a man in a white shirt stands at the right edge pointing toward the line. Discarded paper litter lies on the ground in front of the railings. No a person candidate is visible in this crowd scene.

A group walks down a stone-floored temple corridor lined with iron grilles and painted pillars showing female deity figures in yellow and red. In the centre, a man in an orange-saffron shawl and a dark-haired saffron-robed sadhu lead a procession, with a man in white dhoti and white shirt, a man in a striped yellow shirt, and a uniformed police officer in khaki following. A woman in a blue sari with floral print stands in the foreground, and a woman in green sari walks on the left. Fruit offerings are displayed at the right. Black Tamil-language signboards hang on the walls.

Devotees line both sides of a narrow metal-railed passage inside a covered hall, leading toward a shrine lit by lamps. Men on the left wear white dhotis and white shirts, with a boy in a yellow shirt and a child in a blue top near the rail. On the right, women in pale saree and salwar outfits, one in pink and one in a red-bordered white saree, stand with hands folded in prayer. At the far end, a figure in an orange robe walks toward a red and gold shrine housing a colourful deity murti, with an orange-clad attendant near the centre of the passage. Decorative tiled columns and framed pictures line the hall.

A crowded temple interior at night, with a dense mass of devotees and men in white shirts pressing toward a barred gate on the right. Uniformed police officers in khaki stand among them, one wearing a white cap, and a bright light glows at the upper left. In the foreground, a woman in an orange-red sari and a man in a pink-and-white shawl stand near saffron-robed sannyasis who are visible behind the metal railings. Several monastic figures in orange robes are present, but none is clearly identifiable as a person from appearance alone. A crush of people fills the frame.

A crowded temple interior at a shrine entrance, with a dense mass of devotees pressing against a metal railing. Uniformed police in khaki stand among the crowd, and a film camera on a shoulder rig is visible near the centre. In the foreground a bald man in a white shirt and a woman in orange-saffron clothing stand near the railing. Behind the barrier, several men in saffron and orange robes, some bare-chested with sacred threads, stand before the shrine, one holding folded hands near the grille. Stone pillars and a dim, bright-lit hall frame the scene.

A photograph of a crowd queuing behind silver metal barriers beneath a white tent canopy edged with orange, blue and purple fringed trim, with colourful bunting visible at the left. Many men wear white shirts and checked shirts, and a woman in a pink saree with gold jewellery stands beside a young girl in a green dress with a red forehead mark. A woman at the far left holds a metal plate with an offering and wears a yellow saree. The people appear to be waiting in line for a darshan or distribution at a festival.
