A seated figure with bare upper body, orange-red cloth wrapped at the waist, and hair piled high on the head sits before a large blazing fire pit of logs and bricks, holding a long ladle or stick toward the flames in a homa or yagna. Copper bowls, plates and a small kalasha-like vessel sit on a cloth at left, and a pair of brass trident-topped standards stand at right against a dark wall with a maroon curtain behind. Smoke drifts through the scene.2022-05-25May 25 20222022-05-25A photograph of a homa fire ritual in a dim hall. A large open fire of flaming logs burns in a brick-lined pit in the foreground. Behind the flames a seated person in an orange saffron wrap sits with bare shoulders, wearing a rudraksha mala and a hair knot. Brass bowls, a brass plate with leaves and small cups, and a brass pot of liquid sit on a cloth at left. Behind them stand brass trident-topped staffs and a maroon drape hangs on the left wall. The person's identity cannot be determined from appearance alone, so the role is given as ritual officiant.2022-05-25A photograph of a homa fire ceremony at night in a temple-style setting. A large fire burns in a pit built with stone and split logs, with flames rising in the centre. Behind the fire, a figure with long dreadlocked hair sits cross-legged, wearing an orange-saffron cloth and rudraksha beads, feeding the flames with a stick. Brass bowls and vessels sit around the fire, and brass trident-topped ritual staffs stand in the background beside a dark red curtain.2022-05-25A homa fire pit blazes in the foreground, flames rising high in front of a seated priest in saffron-orange dhoti and shawl, bare-chested, with rudraksha mala beads across his chest. He sits behind the fire, his head and face largely obscured by the flames, and reaches toward brass vessels and bowls set on a low platform at left, with a brass ladle in hand. Behind him hang a red cloth drape and several brass trishula standards with ornate finials, and a dark wooden interior surrounds the scene. Fresh logs surround the fire. The visible figure is a priest performing fire ritual; no appearance-based a person candidate can be confirmed, so the identity is left unsure.2022-05-25A homa fire burns in a stone-lined fire pit in the foreground, with large logs at the edges. Behind the flames, a seated figure in orange clothing sits with their back to the camera, holding a small vessel near a brass bowl. Brass vessels, a brass plate with offerings, and trident-topped brass staffs stand around the space, with maroon drapes behind. The figure has long dark hair tied up on the head. Appearance-based label: the seated figure could be a person, but the back-facing view and fire obscuring the figure leave identity uncertain.2022-05-25A seated priest in an orange-saffron dhoti and wrap, bare-chested, performs a homa at a stone-lined fire pit with tall flames. He wears a long rudraksha mala and a small pendant, and his hair is tied up in a knot. Brass bowls, a brass kalasha and small cups of offerings sit on a cloth to his left, and a ladle is being used to pour into the fire. Behind him are brass trident-topped standards, a maroon curtain hangs on the left, and several small metal pots stand on the right.2022-05-25December 20 20132013-12-20 +1 copiesA bare-chested man in an orange turban and orange dhoti kneels at a brick fire pit, feeding sticks and petals into a small flame with his right hand. Long dark hair falls over his shoulders and he wears a dark beaded bracelet on his wrist. Beside him a plate of pink flower petals sits on the brick edge, and a brass spoon-like ladle rests in a blue bowl in the foreground. Behind him is a tiered golden offering stand with a small kalasha-style pot and scattered petals, with gilded deity figures on pedestals and a purple cushioned seat at right. The scene suggests a homa or fire offering inside a temple hall.2024-11-06Close photo of a homa fire pit during a Chandi Homa ritual. A bare arm reaches in from the left and places wood into a bright, flaming fire on a yellow-painted stone altar. Beside it sit a brass bowl of grains or puffed rice and a small brass cup, with a brass ladle resting on the bowl rim. The person's arm is bare and tattooed; their orange robe is visible at the lower left edge. Gold-coloured panels hang in the blurred background.2021-03-04May 29 20182018-05-29 +2 copiesADIKAILASA on 3/5/20212021-03-05
