A worker in a grey long-sleeved shirt, grey jeans, a blue cap and grey shoes stoops over and uses a long-handled tool to work a heap of pale sand or cement on a concrete floor. Behind him stands a wall of grey concrete blocks with patchy light plaster. A second, smaller sand pile sits in the foreground, and a shovel lies at the lower left edge. The scene looks like a construction site, with no ritual objects, deities or other people visible.

A photograph of a labourer squatting on bare ground, mixing material with a long-handled trowel and a small hand tool. He wears a checked short-sleeved shirt, khaki trousers and sandals, with a red mark on his forehead. Beside him sit a black plastic bucket, a green basin and a large heap of brown sand against a red-painted wall with green plants.

A photograph of ground-level construction work on bare red earth. A pile of grey crushed stone sits on the left. Three workers bend over the soil with hand tools: a man in a white shirt and white dhoti with an orange headcloth in the foreground holds a plastic container and a hoe, while another worker in a pale checked lungi and a person in a pink top work with spades or hoes behind him. A short concrete wall and a hose run along the top of the frame.

A construction site outdoors where workers are mixing mortar on bare earth beside a small concrete structure. A man in a white shirt, grey trousers and a green head cloth pours cement from a blue woven sack onto a heap of reddish sand. Beside him a worker in a purple checked top, green lungi and white head wrap bends over the pile with gloved hands. On the right an older man in a cream shirt and blue-striped dhoti stands watching, and another person in an orange shirt stands further back. A black hose runs across the ground, and white buildings, trees and a red metal railing sit in the background. Stacked concrete blocks lean against a wooden frame at right.

A worker in a flat cap, grey trousers and a faded red-and-white checked shirt stands on a concrete slab at a construction site, using a hoe or trowel to spread wet grey concrete. Nearby are a grey metal funnel-shaped pipe, a coiled beige hose, a grey stone slab leaning on the ground, a folded cement sack, a grey jug and corrugated sheets. The ground is bare red earth with sparse dry grass.

A photograph of a temple construction site where workers mix and spread wet grey concrete on the ground. In the foreground a man in a white shirt and white dhoti, wearing glasses, shovels concrete with a flat metal trowel. Beside him a man in a white shirt and green checked lungi bends over the mix with a small trowel. On the right a man in a striped shirt and pink-and-white turban holds a shallow metal pan of gravel. Behind them other workers in white and in lungis, and a woman in an orange sari stands near wooden formwork and a blue drum. Piles of sand and red earth surround the site.

Outdoor construction work on a paved site with palm trees and a scaffold behind. Several labourers work around a large heap of grey wet cement or concrete mix spread on the ground, with torn cement bags nearby. A man in a red knit cap and checked shirt on the left, a man in a striped sweater and white turban on the right, and others in lungis and light shirts shovel and spread the mix with tools. Tall lamp posts and a blue barrel sit in the background. No ritual, discourse or a person presence is visible.

A photograph of construction work at a site with sandy ground. Several workers, with bare legs and checked green-and-white lungis, are mixing a heap of grey concrete mixed with gravel using long-handled trowels or shovels. A red-and-orange plastic bucket sits at the upper left. Only parts of the workers are visible: legs, feet, arms and hands gripping tool handles, one with a red thread on the wrist. No person is identifiable as a person in this image.

A man in a white short-sleeved shirt and grey trousers crouches at a wall, smoothing wet plaster or mortar with a wooden trowel from a shallow metal basin. The wall surface is brown and grey, with a damp, glossy sheen. This is a construction work scene with no visible a person candidate.
