August 02 20082008-08-02Outdoor evening ritual at a rural ashram setting under palm trees and hanging string decorations. A yellow-painted square fire pit or homa altar sits at the centre, decorated with pink flower petals, with brass lamps, a metal vessel and banana and fruit offerings nearby. Two people in white clothes sit at the front, one wearing a rudraksha mala and another in white with a shaved head and rudraksha mala, both seated cross-legged near the altar. A woman in white with a long braid speaks into a microphone on a stand at the front right, while another woman in white with a braid sits beside the altar. Behind them a large seated crowd of men, women and children in colourful saris, shirts and dresses watches on white plastic chairs and mats.2007-10-01December 02 20072007-12-02 +1 copiesNight-time homa scene at an outdoor ritual area. A low rectangular fire pit lined with reddish-brown and white-painted bricks holds a small flame at its base. Around it, a group of devotees in white clothing stand closely together, several holding small steel bowls, metal plates and offerings. Women wear white and cream saris with gold borders, while men wear plain white shirts and dhotis, with rudraksha malas visible on some. A tarpaulin and school building form the background, lit by overhead lights.2006-12-17A large seated congregation of men fills a hall during a satsang or meditation session, sitting on striped mats over a green floor. Many wear white shirts and white dhotis with red or orange lanyard badges, and several have rudraksha malas. A man in an orange shirt at left sits with palms pressed together, and a bald man in a white shirt in the foreground holds his hands in anjali. A few wear yellow, blue or striped shirts. The men have eyes closed or gaze downward in devotion. No speaker's dais shows a clearly identifiable figure in this frame, and no one in the scene is clearly a person, so no candidate is identified. Walls are pale yellow with windows at the top.2012-09-21 +1 copiesWide indoor view of a large hall packed with devotees seated on the floor and standing in lines, many in white traditional clothes and some women in saris of orange, red, blue and pink. Hanging decorative banners in dark and gold patterns line the upper walls, and a screen and white-curtained stage area are visible at the back. A few men in white dhotis stand near the centre, and an elderly man in a light shirt stands at the right edge. The mood suggests a healing darshan queue, with people waiting in an orderly crowd under evening lighting.2008-03-04A large outdoor crowd of devotees sits on the ground during a homa or yagna ritual, arranged around brick-lined fire pits with small piles of wood and brass bowls of offerings. Many are seated on mats or directly on the earth. Men in white dhotis and shirts wear rudraksha malas, and a few wear ID lanyards. Women wear saris in green, pink, red, purple and yellow, and a girl in a bright yellow dress sits near the front. Behind them a red draped backdrop is hung with framed portraits and banners, with orange flags and trees beyond. No individual is clearly identifiable as a person in the foreground; the portraits are on the backdrop.2007-09-03December 20 20112011-12-20September 16 20132013-09-16A seated outdoor satsang with a large crowd of men dressed in white shirts and white dhotis sitting on mats. Several rudraksha malas hang around necks, and many have hands folded in namaste or eyes closed in meditation. Behind them stands a dark stone deity murti adorned with a flower garland, beside a black speaker, and red and white striped drapery and potted plants frame the stage area. The scene is peaceful and attentive, with the people sitting in rows on a woven mat.2011-02-25July 16 20152015-07-16November 24 20062006-11-24
