Several large colourful umbrellas with gold-embroidered fringes and red, green and yellow panels shade the procession. Men in white shirts and dhotis and women in white saris with orange borders walk closely together, some holding orange flags. A man in a blue-and-white checked shirt plays a black wind instrument (nadaswaram-style pipe) at centre-left. A man in a red sports shirt bends forward near the right edge. Several large ornate parasols with yellow, green and red canopies and floral embroidery are carried on tall poles over the crowd. At centre, a figure with long dark hair wears an orange-saffron robe and a garland of flowers, walking among devotees. A man in a red uniform jacket plays a clarinet-type wind instrument beside a drummer in a red cap and red top. Shops, a bus and banners line the street behind the procession.2009-01-21A dense crowd of devotees fills a street outside a colourfully painted temple gopuram-style gateway with ornate pillars, circular medallion decorations and lion-bracket carvings. Several large ceremonial umbrellas with red, gold and multicoloured fringed canopies are carried above the crowd during a procession, along with banners and a palanquin-like canopy. Most people wear white dhotis and shirts, with some in saffron or orange garments. Green banana-leaf and palm decorations are strung across the entrance. The procession appears to be a ratha or temple procession moving through the crowd.2006-09-24June 19 20142014-06-19 +1 copiesJuly 28 20082008-07-28July 30 20092009-07-30July 29 20082008-07-29January 01 20052005-01-01
