December 22 20162016-12-22December 22 20162016-12-22Night aarti at an outdoor ceremony under a canopy of green banana leaves and hanging glass and tinsel decorations. In the centre, a bare-chested figure with a swept-up dark hairstyle, white tilak marks, rudraksha malas and a heavy gold necklace holds a brass aarti lamp with a flame and a bell in the other hand. Around them, devotees in saffron and orange dress stand with hands pressed in anjali, a man in white holds a tray of green fruit, and a boy in an orange shawl watches. Strong light falls from above.2016-12-22A young man in an orange saffron dhoti-style garment with gold border and gold waist sash stands in profile holding a brass multi-wick oil lamp in his left hand and a brass handbell in his right, with rudraksha beads and a gold-toned necklace around his neck and beaded bands on his arms. His hair is tied in a tall topknot. Behind and to the right, another arm raises a lit brass lamp with flames. Seated devotees in orange, teal and red saris and kurtas fill the blurred background, many with hands raised in worship. The setting appears to be an indoor hall during an aarti-style ritual.2016-05-24October 19 20122012-10-19September 28 20172017-09-28 +1 copiesMarch 04 20192019-03-04April 24 20132013-04-24July 07 20152015-07-07May 21 20162016-05-21A photograph of a young man in saffron-orange robes walking in a ritual procession, holding a brass multi-branched oil lamp (aarti) in his right hand and a small brass bell in his left. He wears a rudraksha mala, a gold necklace, a bangle, and long dark matted hair piled high on his head, with white tripundra vibhuti marks on his forehead. Beside him, another young person in orange and gold clothing with a similar high-knot hairstyle and white forehead marks also carries a lit brass lamp. Older men in white and orange-clad sadhus stand in the blurred background, and a bell-holder appears at the left edge. The setting is a white-walled hall with a golden arch behind.2016-05-02July 09 20172017-07-09
