September 14 20152015-09-14September 14 20152015-09-14September 20 20152015-09-20An aged, bare-chested ascetic with long white hair and a full white beard sits cross-legged on straw inside a triangular tent-like shelter of white cloth. He wears a white cloth draped over his shoulders and lap, and his hands rest on his knees. Behind him are folded dark and pink fabrics, and a few blurred people stand in the open area outside the shelter. Large clay pots sit at the left edge of the frame. The image is a faded, bluish-tinted print, and there is no readable name on the figure.A man with long swept-back dark hair sits cross-legged in profile on an orange cushion, wearing an orange robe draped over his shoulder and a long rudraksha mala of brown beads around his neck, with a red tilak on his forehead. He sits calmly with eyes open gazing forward, hands resting on his lap, with a brass vessel and kalasha-like pot in the foreground. Behind him are blurred orange buildings, greenery and stone deity murtis. Given the page cues of long swept hair, orange robe, and rudraksha mala, this is a person seated for meditation or discourse.2011-02-28September 05 20142014-09-05 +1 copiesPhotograph of an elderly bearded man seated in profile, looking upward to the left, with long grey hair knotted on top of his head and a red-and-white tilak mark on his forehead. He wears a loose saffron-orange cloth draped over his shoulders and is bare-chested beneath it. Multiple rudraksha beads hang on a long necklace across his chest, with red threads and a silver pendant beside them. Gold bangles are visible on his wrist as his hands rest folded in his lap. The plain cream wall behind him and a white plastic chair edge are visible.2012-05-08January 17 20182018-01-17 +1 copiesA seated bearded sadhu with a topknot of matted hair and a red bindi with white vibhuti on his forehead sits on a pale yellow plastic chair. He wears an orange saffron shawl draped over bare shoulders and chest, a rudraksha mala across his chest, and gold bangles on one wrist, with hands clasped in his lap. He looks off to the side in a room with a plain wall and a tiled floor.2012-05-08 +1 copiesA man with long dark hair swept back sits cross-legged in lotus-style posture on an orange cushion atop a low wooden platform, facing right in profile. He wears a flowing saffron-orange wrap with maroon edging and a long multi-strand rudraksha mala of dark brown beads across his chest, with a small red mark on his forehead. Beside him on the platform sits a polished brass vessel with a handle, and a patterned mat lies on the ground. Behind him stand an orange-walled building, green shrubs and a paved courtyard with grey stone figures in the background. Whether this man is a person cannot be determined from appearance: the cues are a saffron wrap and rudraksha mala, but the visible evidence is limited, so the identity is unsure.2011-02-28A man sits cross-legged in meditation on an orange cushion placed on a woven straw mat outdoors, eyes closed and hands resting on his knees. He wears an orange garment with a maroon border draped over one shoulder and a long double strand of brown rudraksha beads around his neck, with a red bindi on his forehead and his hair swept back. A brass pot stands at the lower left edge, and a pale paved area and water are behind him. The appearance-based label is probable, with cues of swept-back hair, orange draped robes and rudraksha malas, but the image contains no printed name in the scene.2011-01-31An older photograph, slightly faded, of a seated sadhu in saffron-orange robes with a red bindi on his forehead and a long rudraksha mala draped over his chest. He sits cross-legged on a spotted animal skin spread over a rocky outcrop, with a small brass pot or kalasha placed beside him. Behind him rises a barren, rocky hillside with sparse shrubs. The figure has white hair knotted on top and a calm, meditative posture. Appearance is consistent with a meditating sannyasi, but identity cannot be confirmed from appearance alone.2011-10-24
