Outdoor photograph of a ritual at a tall ornate copper-clad pillar wrapped with white and orange cloth and strung with yellow, red and white flower garlands. A man with shoulder-length dark hair, wearing an orange saffron robe, a rudraksha mala and a flower garland, stands on a white platform raising a brass bell and a lit camphor flame in one hand while holding a bell in the other, smoke rising beside him. Coconut palm fronds stand behind, and a person in orange clothing is partly visible at the lower right near a brass plate. Petals are scattered on the platform.2009-12-23Outdoors under palm trees and a bright sky, a smiling man with long dark hair stands beside an ornate reddish-brown wooden shrine pillar draped with white and gold-bordered cloth and garlanded with yellow marigolds. He wears a dark orange-brown garment, a brown rudraksha-style mala, and a long white and red flower garland. In his right hand he holds a brass oil lamp with a tall flame, and in his left a small brass bell. The scene reads as a temple-style ritual of aarti offered beside the decorated pillar.
