Temple aarti in progress: a shaved-headed priest with long dark hair, seen from behind, bare-backed and wearing an orange-saffron dhoti-style cloth and a rudraksha mala, holds a tall multi-tiered silver lamp with several flames aloft toward a golden deity murti seated on an ornate golden throne decorated with garlands. Flower-decorated fairy lights glow behind the deity. Painted pillars in red, green and blue flank the shrine, with a standing deity figure on the right. In the foreground, two musicians in orange clothes play wind instruments, one holding a long pipe to his mouth. Ash marks are visible on the priest's shoulders and back.2017-08-02May 11 20132013-05-11A shaved-headed person in the lower left, seen from behind with a rudraksha mala on the wrist and a silver bangle, lifts a tall multi-tiered brass aarti lamp with many lit oil flames. Behind it stand two painted deity statues flanking a dark wooden doorway with golden studded dots, and a golden deity murti is partly visible within. The scene reads as a temple aarti ritual; the lamp is the clear focus and the person's face is not visible.2014-09-19July 16 20132013-07-16A photograph from behind of a shaved-headed priest in an orange saffron robe with a gold trim, wearing a rudraksha mala, holding a lit multi-tiered brass aarti lamp with several flames. He faces a deity murti seated on a golden throne within a temple shrine, framed by a golden halo and strings of warm bokeh lights. Tall painted guardian figures in red and orange stand on either side of the shrine, and a few other people in white clothing are blurred at the edges. The scene suggests an evening aarti during worship in a temple.2013-01-28October 12 20142014-10-12A multi-tiered brass aarti lamp with several lit oil wicks is held in the foreground, its flames glowing warmly. Behind it, a blurred framed portrait of a person in orange robes hangs within a gold-ornamented shrine niche. Strings of orange bokeh lights decorate the top, and turquoise, yellow and pink painted pillars frame the scene. Out-of-focus figures in the lower background suggest a ritual setting.2013-04-12July 27 20132013-07-27June 07 20132013-06-07July 16 20132013-07-16A shaved-headed priest seen from behind performs aarti with a multi-tiered lit brass lamp held high in both hands before a deity murti. He wears a rust-red and gold-bordered cloth over bare shoulders and a rudraksha mala around his neck. The inner shrine is decorated with hanging strings of beads and small lamps, and a gold-clad deity is seated on a throne. Two attendants in orange and red robes are partly visible in front of the murti. Ornate painted pillars with a pink-and-green figure of a deity frame the scene, and a tall brass lamp stands on the right. The priest's role is conducting the aarti.2014-11-26A bald man with his back to the camera, wearing an orange-saffron cloth draped over his shoulders and a rudraksha mala around his neck, raises a tiered brass lamp with many burning oil flames above his head in a temple hall. Painted colourful pillars and two painted dvarapala-style guardian figures with raised arms flank a central doorway. Brass lamp stands line the walls. A seated woman in orange clothing sits at left, and a few other seated figures in white and orange are visible in the background near the shrine.2014-06-03
