September 09 20112011-09-09A photograph of a procession walking along a paved stone path at a South Indian temple complex. A tall white gopuram tower rises behind a colonnaded pink-and-grey hall, with palm trees and a hill beyond. In the foreground, a group of about twenty people walk in a line. Several men in white dhoti and shirt walk beside saffron-robed figures wearing orange cloth and rudraksha malas; one bare-chested man carries a saffron wrap and orange garment. Women in green and white saris walk among them. Among the saffron-robed figures, one tall man with long hair and an orange robe walks at the centre of the group.2011-09-09September 09 20112011-09-09October 12 20122012-10-12Photograph of a courtyard with a long pink colonnade of orange-and-white pillars behind a walking group. Six people walk across the paved court toward the left; one in a white dhoti and shirt leads, another in white at far left, and the others wear saffron orange robes, one with a beaded necklace. A small domed pavilion and a rocky hill rise in the background under a pale blue sky. Carved stone figures and kalasha-like finials sit atop the roofline.2010-01-18 +1 copiesA procession moves along a stone-pillared colonnade of a South Indian temple, with a mountain rising behind the roofline under a pale blue sky. Many men in white dhotis and shirts walk in a long line on the left, several wearing orange or saffron cloths. Two bare-chested men in white dhotis walk near the centre, one holding a bag, and a man in a red shirt stands among others beside the pillars. Decorated grey granite columns carry carved figures, and colourful rangoli kolams decorate the paving. A street lamp and power lines run overhead. No figure can be identified as a person from appearance, so no candidate is marked.2007-01-12A photo of a procession walking along a paved courtyard beside a long pink-topped stone wall with a corrugated roof awning and metal railings. Several men in white dhoti and shirt and women in white saris lead the group, with a line of saffron-robed sannyasis in orange cloth walking in the middle; one shaven-headed monk is bare-chested with an orange wrap. Stone bull-like figures sit atop the wall, and a hill and temple gopuram appear at left. A visible figure in orange with a bare upper body stands out in the centre; the appearance-based cues for a person candidate are not distinctive enough to confirm identity, so this is unsure.2011-09-09September 09 20112011-09-09A photograph of a group walking along a stone-paved path beside a tall pink-and-cream temple wall, with a gopuram tower rising behind a shrine entrance under a grey, misty sky. A man in front wears an orange-saffron dhoti and shawl with a rudraksha-style necklace and garland; many followers in saffron robes and white dhotis walk with him, and a few men in casual shirts and trousers walk among them. A palm tree and a hillside appear at right. A yellow bucket sits on the left edge.2012-10-12A photograph of a group walking along a stone-paved courtyard beside a long pinkish-washed temple wall of dark grey stone blocks, with a green hill and a white gopuram tower behind. Stone bulls sit on the wall top. A large crowd of devotees in white dhotis and saris, and several men in saffron and orange robes, walk in a column; one bare-chested man in orange cloth stands in front of the group, and a shaved-headed priest in white walks at the rear. A man in a white shirt and grey trousers stands at the right edge beside metal scaffolding.2011-09-09Outdoor photograph of a group walking along a stone-paved courtyard beside a large white gopuram temple tower with a pink-washed wall to the right. Several saffron-clad sadhus in orange dhotis and shawls walk in front, one wearing a long rudraksha mala and a gold-coloured necklace, with a tall figure in a swept-back hairstyle at the centre of the line. Men in white dhotis and shirts walk among them, one carrying a bouquet of flowers. Palm trees and a hill appear behind the temple. Wet patches and kolam chalk designs are on the ground. Swamiji (probable) is the tall figure at centre, identified by appearance cues of swept-back hair, saffron clothing and ornate necklace, and is physically present.2012-10-12December 04 2006 - Karthikai Deepam, Tiruvannamalai2006-12-04
