A street procession in a dusty lane passes a temple facade with a blue ornamental gate and a Ganesha relief. On the far left, a man with long dark hair, wearing rudraksha beads, an orange wrap and a white and orange garland, walks barefoot-style in sandals as the central figure of the group. Behind and around him, men in white dhotis and shirts, many with orange shawls, walk along; a man in front carries a video camera on his shoulder and another wears a white and orange shawl with a bag. Scooters are parked at the right edge, and temple lamps glow above the gate.2008-08-02A group of men walks barefoot along a dirt lane beside an old stone temple wall in a South Indian village. In the centre, a man with long dark swept-back hair wears a saffron-orange robe draped over one shoulder and walks ahead of the others. Several men flank him in white dhotis and white shirts, some with orange shawls, rudraksha malas and shaved or white-marked foreheads. A tiled-roof house and a green-painted fence stand in the background.2006-09-18A photograph of a group walking outdoors past a pink-washed wall and a teal-framed window. At centre, a young man with long dark hair and a white forehead mark wears a saffron-orange robe, a multi-strand gold-bead necklace, and a large pink flower garland draped over his shoulders, with a white cloth over one arm. Around him, saffron-robed men with shaved heads and gold-bead necklaces walk alongside; one at left has long curly hair, a rudraksha mala, and a bare chest with white body markings, wearing a patterned lungi. A man at far left wears a grey beard and a saffron shawl. Several figures carry mobile phones.2012-02-08December 29 20102010-12-29Outdoor procession on a dirt path at a temple-style ground. In the foreground a man in orange robes raises a handheld video camera overhead. Ahead, several men in white shirts and white dhotis walk in a line, with a man in white kurta and white shawl in the centre. On the left, a man in orange robes with a rudraksha-style mala and a woman in orange saree with garlands walk beside a drummer with a drum. Decorated parasols with colourful fabric and a palanquin-style canopy are carried above the group. Trees, a thatched structure and red flags stand in the background, with a crowd of onlookers in white and colourful clothing at the right.2008-04-19Outdoor photograph of a village lane lined with a low concrete wall and palm trees, apparently after storm damage. Beside and behind him, men in white shirts and white veshtis walk, one in a white cloth cap-like wrap at left, and a man in a dark cap and striped shirt stands at right. A bystander in the foreground holds up a red phone to photograph the group. Crowd members stand near the wall in the background.2012-01-06A street procession moves along a dirt road lined with thatched stalls, with a temple gopuram visible in the background under an overcast sky. A man in a bright orange robe with gold trim and a long orange turban, hands joined in greeting, walks at the centre, wearing a rudraksha mala and ornate gold necklaces; the figure has long hair and a distinctive ceremonial presentation, so this is a probable Swamiji candidate in person. Around him, men in white dhotis and shirts walk, one wearing a green rosette and rudraksha mala, another in white with a red-and-gold shawl, and at the right a bearded man in white kurta with an orange shawl and rudraksha mala. A camera strap and a hand holding a camera occupy the left edge. Several more white-clad people follow behind.2006-09-24A photograph of a group walking along a narrow path beside a stone wall, under trees in the evening. In the centre, a man in an orange saffron robe with a white forehead mark and long hair walks forward, holding a white and green flower garland in his hands. Around him, men wear orange shawls over white dhotis and kurtas; one bearded man holds folded orange cloth. A man on the right carries a large black video camera on a strap, and another man on the far right wears a rudraksha mala. Several men stand barefoot.2007-12-23A photograph of a group walking outdoors along a plain concrete path beside a pale wall and a small shrine niche with a painted deity image and a framed picture. In the centre, a man in an orange saffron robe and orange turban wears a long white flower garland and rudraksha beads, smiling as he walks. Around him, men in white dhotis and shirts, several with orange shawls or rudraksha malas and one carrying a bundle, walk in attendance. A man in a striped shirt stands at the right edge, and a tilak-marked man in white with a rudraksha mala walks at the left foreground. The setting resembles a temple or ashram courtyard.2006-11-25
