December 25 20062006-12-25December 25 20062006-12-25Outdoor photograph of a large crowd seated on the ground at a ritual gathering, with sunlight haze and palm trees behind a open-sided pavilion. In the front rows, several women and men in saffron-orange robes sit cross-legged, each holding a small white sheet of paper and reading or chanting, with small brass pots, oil lamps and small plates with offerings placed on mats before them. Tall bamboo poles with saffron flags stand among the seated people. Behind them, many devotees in white and cream clothing sit closely packed, with a few in bright blue, pink and green saris. A man in a white-robed saffron wrap sits near the center right. The scene reads as a group puja or chanting session during an outdoor celebration.2006-12-25Outdoor ritual on a paved ground with saffron-robed devotees seated on mats in rows, reading from printed booklets, with brass plates, small bowls and oil lamps set before them. Saffron-robed devotees with long bamboo-like staffs stand upright behind them, and a crowd in white and light clothing watches from behind under palm trees and orange pennants.2006-12-25Outdoor ritual gathering at dawn or dusk under hazy sunlight, with palm trees and a corrugated-roof open shed behind. Rows of seated people in saffron/orange robes sit on a dirt ground facing a raised white seat at right, where a figure in orange with a flower garland sits. Seated saffron-clad participants hold open books or papers, with brass pots, lamps and small metal vessels set on mats before them. A large crowd of standing and seated devotees in white clothes fills the background, some holding orange flags on poles, and an orange-and-white canopy hangs above. Several people in white dhotis and shirts stand at right. A photograph that matches the page's Brahmotsavam-related ritual setting, though the ritual itself is not clearly identifiable beyond the offering vessels and chanting postures. One seated man in the middle-right row resembles a bald figure in orange, but the appearance is not clear enough to establish identity.2006-12-25October 08 20082008-10-08Outdoor guru puja beneath a large banyan tree with spreading aerial roots. In the foreground, rows of seated devotees in saffron-orange robes sit on mats before brass puja vessels, small silver dishes, flowers and fruit. Several young people wear vertical tilak and orange clothing, and some hold long bamboo poles topped with small saffron flags. Behind them, many people in white clothing stand and sit among the trees, with a few white-clad figures visible in the background.2006-10-06October 08 20082008-10-08Outdoor ritual gathering under a open shade structure with palm trees behind. A central figure seated on a white-cushioned chair with a green and white cloth, wearing an orange garment and a white flower garland, with a second garland of white flowers. In front of him, a kneeling devotee in orange robes holds a long staff near a brass pot, while several other people in orange robes sit on mats with brass vessels, small plates of offerings and pooja items. Hundreds of seated devotees in white and mixed clothing fill the ground behind, many with hands folded, and tall orange and saffron flag poles rise above the crowd.2006-12-25October 08 20082008-10-08Outdoor ritual at a temple courtyard shaded by tall palm trees, with a tall copper-clad ritual flagpole and a white-painted dais in the background. Several people in saffron-orange clothing sit on a raised platform with a red-and-white striped base, chanting with hands folded and tending brass pots, kalasha vessels, oil lamps and offering plates. A tall copper pillar stands behind the altar, and a large seated crowd in orange and white clothing watches from the ground. A parked vehicle and a low boundary wall sit at the left edge.2008-10-09December 25 20062006-12-25
