A man in an orange-saffron cloth and a white flower garland, with a dark rudraksha-style necklace, holds a lit oil lamp flame and a small brass vessel beside a dark stone shivalingam at the tree trunk, which is decorated with red and yellow garlands and turmeric or kumkum marks. A person in white clothing with a camera stands behind him, and a few other figures in white are partly visible at the edge. Yellow flowers and green leaves lie in the foreground. The scene is lit by flame and a torch.2007-01-01Night photograph of two men walking barefoot along a pale pink cloth runner laid over sandy ground between tall tree trunks and a metal railing. The foreground man wears a red-orange sash over a leopard-print garment and a white floral garland with red flowers draped over his shoulders. Behind him, a man in a plain white dhoti and shawl, with a sandalwood-paste tilak on his forehead and beads around his neck, holds a small torch. A light-coloured fabric lies on the ground nearby. The scene appears to be an outdoor procession or arrival along a ceremonial path at night.2014-06-09Night-time photograph of a sacred banyan tree on a raised sandy circular platform in a garden setting. A man in a rust-orange dhoti and wrap, with long dark hair and a beard, wears a long red-and-white flower garland and stands with both hands pressed against the trunk. To the left, a young man in saffron-orange robes with a rudraksha mala stands beside a brass puja tray holding a brass lamp, a small brass vessel and a plate of flowers. The scene shows a tree-worship ritual at dusk.2017-02-03A man in a saffron-orange shawl wrap over bare shoulders walks along a dirt path at night beneath dense leafy branches. He has long, dark, swept-back hair, a red tilak on his forehead, and a distinctive ceremonial presentation with a long orange wrap. Behind him, two men in white dhotis and a white shirt carry a brass vessel with a red cloth at night, and a lit oil lamp glows on the right. Dim lamplight and dark foliage surround the procession.2006-12-10Night photograph of a long-haired figure seen from behind, wearing a rust-red robe and a thick white and multicolour flower garland draped over the shoulder, with a rudraksha bracelet on the upper arm. The figure stands in dim light before a red and white pillar hung with yellow flowers. At right, a man with short dark hair and a beard, wearing a white garment with a yellow border, is partly visible in the foreground. A railing and a faint dark structure appear in the background.2017-10-19Night photograph of an outdoor ritual at a temple-like courtyard beneath a large banyan tree with a bright light source above. A man in dark dhoti with a long pink and white flower garland and layered beaded necklaces stands centre, hands together. Beside him a figure in saffron-orange cloth holds a long staff. At left, a man in red cloth holds a lit oil lamp and a brass plate of offerings. Another attendant in white dhoti stands at right beside a pillar draped with yellow and purple flower garlands. Stone slabs pave the ground with scattered flowers. Lamp and offering plate suggest puja or aarti.2017-11-11Night photograph of two men walking along a woven mat path through a dark outdoor grove lit by a single street lamp. The man in front wears a long rust-orange robe, a white flower garland draped over his shoulders, and is barefoot, with a dark beard and hair tied back. Behind him a man in a white dhoti and white upper cloth wears a beaded necklace and has light markings on his forehead. A third figure in orange stands further back near a low red platform. Bare trees and a purple logo are visible at the upper left. The front figure's appearance is consistent with a long-bearded sannyasi in saffron-orange robes, but the identification is uncertain.2017-03-19June 06 20172017-06-06
