December 08 20112011-12-08December 08 20112011-12-08Indoor temple-room photo during a ritual. A shaved-headed priest in saffron-orange robes holds a lit oil lamp toward a golden stand draped with an orange cloth. Beside him, another saffron-robed person stands with hands joined. A man in white dhoti with a white shirt stands at left, and a man in a pink shirt sits in the foreground with palms pressed together. On the right, a framed portrait labelled "Paramahamsa Nithyananda" is garlanded with red flowers and set on an ornate gold stand with lion figures. A green forest backdrop and gold kalasha-topped canopy appear beside it.2011-12-08Devotees stand in a whitewashed hall with a tin roof and ceiling fans, hands joined in anjali toward a raised platform. On the platform, an ornate gold-and-red throne holds a framed portrait of a seated figure in saffron and gold garments, decorated with a green garland. A portrait photograph of a smiling man with long hair hangs on the wall above, under a maroon and yellow drape. Two figures in saffron and orange robes stand near the platform, one holding a small offering plate. About fifteen devotees in white traditional dress, many women in white saris with gold borders, stand in rows, and a man in a striped shirt and white dhoti stands at the left edge. Brass lamps flank the throne and a decorated cloth pennant hangs at the left.2009-02-05A photograph inside a small brick-walled hall where a crowd of devotees stands with palms pressed together in namaskar. A framed portrait on the left shows a smiling figure in orange robes with a white beaded necklace, and a monk in saffron robes stands at the far left edge. Most men wear white shirts and dhotis or trousers, one woman wears a cream sari, and a man near the centre wears a rudraksha mala. A large banner on the wall reads Nithya Annadhan and describes daily feeding to the public.2011-04-17A photograph of a devotional gathering in a plain indoor hall with white walls, ceiling fans and fluorescent tube lights. At the front, a framed portrait of a seated figure under an ornate arch is decorated with a marigold garland and flowers on a small table. Devotees stand in rows facing the portrait: men in white shirts and light-coloured shirts, and women in saris, some with hands folded or clapping. A bald man in white with glasses stands at the lower right. The portrait is a printed picture, not a live person, so the visible people number roughly twenty to thirty.2005-07-09Devotees in white clothes stand with palms pressed together in a hall facing a raised stage. On the stage, a figure in orange robes sits on an ornate carved red and gold throne, flanked by brass lamps. A large framed black-and-white portrait hangs on the wall behind the throne. A standing attendant in orange robes stands near the stage steps, and a woman in a white sari with a yellow border stands at the right with hands folded. Red and gold banners hang on the side walls.2009-02-05Photo inside a modest hall with a corrugated roof and white walls. A framed portrait of a seated figure in saffron-orange robes with rudraksha beads and a red-and-white garland hangs on a gold-ornate pedestal shrine, with a brass oil lamp burning before it. A standing man in a white shirt, cream dhoti and orange waist cord holds a brass lamp in front of the shrine. A woman in a blue sari with flowers in her hair stands beside a gold-carved throne-like seat. Two older people with grey hair are seen in the foreground, and a painted forest backdrop fills the right wall. The portrait is a painted or printed image, so the figure in it is a depiction, not a person present.2011-12-08October 10 20062006-10-10Indoor photo of devotees in white shirts and dhotis standing with palms pressed together before a portrait on a white-draped seat in a whitewashed hall. The framed portrait shows a figure in orange robes with long dark hair, set beside a brass oil lamp and a small white chair. A dark-haired woman in white stands near the altar, while a man in glasses and a red cap stands at the right edge. Orange and brown floor mats cover the concrete floor, and a yellow door opens to another room.2011-04-17April 17 20112011-04-17November 01 20092009-11-01 +1 copies
