A photograph of an open-sided thatched structure under construction at an outdoor site. A long, low roof of dried straw or thatch rests on a framework of bamboo poles and wooden posts, with diagonal bracing poles leaning against the sides. Beneath the roof, stacked metal pipes or rods lie on crossbeams above a concrete plinth with red earth exposed inside its perimeter. Palm trees and a leafy branch frame the scene, and a small blue structure appears in the background. No people are visible.

A photograph of a thatched palm-leaf structure under construction on a dirt site. A large open-sided shelter with a steeply pitched roof of dried thatch sits on bamboo and timber posts, with a woven palm-frond wall panel on the left gable end. Young coconut palms and a leafy tree grow nearby. A pile of sand, stacked timber and steel rebar lie in the foreground beside a low concrete plinth, and a white van is parked behind the structure. Whitewashed buildings appear at the left edge. No people are visible.

A dry, open construction site under clear sky. A long open-sided shed with a thatched roof of dried palm or grass sits on a low breeze-block and concrete wall, supported by thin wooden poles. Stacks of cut thatch and bundled wooden planks lie on bare reddish earth in the foreground. A large leafy tree stands at the right edge beside the shed. One person in a white shirt and dark trousers stands at the far left near the stacked materials. No ritual activity, deity, or a person is visible.

A photograph of an open-sided rural structure under construction with a conical thatched roof of dried palm fronds over a bamboo frame, set on a round red-painted brick plinth. A man in a white shirt stands on top of the thatched roof, and several people in white dhotis and white shirts work around the base, including one seated on a blue plastic chair at the left and others near a low bamboo platform. Red-leafed plants and green shrubs line the foreground, with a bare tree, palm trees and a utility pole with wires behind. The clear blue sky and dusty ground suggest a outdoor preparation site. Red date stamp reads 30 12 2005 at the lower right.

A rural construction site where workers are thatching the roof of a long white corrugated-metal building with dried palm leaf mats. Several men in light clothing crouch and stand on the roof, while another worker bends over at the building's side. Two wooden ladders lean against the walls, and bundles of palm-leaf matting lie on red earth in the foreground. Green trees and a blue sky with clouds form the background.

A collapsed thatched hut with a bamboo frame, its palm-leaf and straw roof sagging and partly torn away, stands beside a coconut palm and a leafy tree in overgrown grass. Behind it is a pale concrete building with laundry hung over a balcony wall. No people are visible. The scene shows storm damage to a rural dwelling, consistent with the cyclone-relief photos listed on the page.

A long, low white-washed mud-block building with a thick thatched roof of dried palm fronds or straw sits on bare, sandy ground under a clear blue sky. A grey cylindrical drum lies on its side near the wall, a small tree grows at the far end, and a tall wooden pole with a wire stands at the left edge beside a red-earth path. No people are visible. The scene is an open rural setting with scrub vegetation in the distance.

A partly built concrete-block structure with a corrugated white sheet roof stands among green shrubs and bushes in a dry, open area. Bamboo poles prop up the roofline and a tall black metal water tank sits on a frame of metal legs at right, beside a utility pole with wires. Palm trees and leafy trees fill the background under a pale hazy sky. No people are visible.

A photo of cyclone-damaged thatched huts in a village. Two large, dense thatched roofs of dried palm fronds dominate the left and center, with a collapsed, flattened thatch pile lying on the ground in front of them. Torn white and red tarpaulin sheets are draped over debris, and a few plastic sheets cover a roof on the right. Wooden poles and scattered straw litter the muddy ground. Bare trees and palms stand behind the huts under an overcast sky.

Photograph of a construction site with a partly built concrete-block structure under a thatched palm-leaf roof, with unfinished block walls and scattered building blocks on bare earth. A man in a saffron-orange robe with long swept-back hair stands in the centre, gesturing as he speaks with a group of men in white dhotis and shirts, some in green or blue shirts. One man in white crouches at the lower left, and an older man in an orange shawl stands to the right. The group is inspecting the building works.
