A priest in an orange-saffron dhoti and bare upper body, wearing a white flower garland, holds a flaming lamp or fire toward a massive banyan tree with many hanging aerial roots. Behind him a group of devotees in white and grey shirts stand with palms pressed together in prayer on a sandy path. A small offering or puja plate is visible at the left edge, and small yellow flowers are placed on the tree trunk. Sunlight filters through the leafy canopy, and the scene looks like an outdoor ritual at a sacred banyan tree.

Behind him, a line of devotees in saffron and orange robes stands with joined hands, some holding a multicolored fringed umbrella-like canopy, while a man in white dhoti and gold necklace stands at left. A stone platform sits at the base of the tree at right. Wet paved ground and a mossy trunk suggest rain.
