January 01 20042004-01-01Outdoor ceremony beneath green trees at an ashram, showing a dwajarohanam-style flag-hoisting rite at a tall white flagpole. A man in an orange turban, orange robe and a long white-and-red flower garland holds rose petals in his hands and offers them at the pole's base. Beside him, a man in orange robes holds a white tray of pink petals. A woman in a white sari with gold border holds a brass puja vessel, and a multicoloured fringed parasol shades the central figure. Petals and flowers lie scattered on brick-edged ground, with about a dozen white-clad devotees standing behind. A man in orange robes holding the tray is visibly present; the central figure in turban and garland has appearance cues consistent with the page's a person reference, though the match is uncertain.2008-07-27September 21 20162016-09-21January 02 20102010-01-02 +1 copiesApril 14 20132013-04-14April 14 20132013-04-14 +3 copiesOutdoor photo of a long-haired man in an orange saffron garment, wrapped at the shoulder and waist, with a white and red flower garland around his neck, reaching up to pull a yellow rope attached to a tall white flagpole mounted on a white concrete base scattered with pink flower petals. Above him is a thatched bamboo roof with small purple and red pennants strung along it. Behind is a tree-lined area and a red-tiled building. At left, a woman in a cream sari stands watching, and a partly visible person in white is at the bottom edge. The scene appears to be a flag-hoisting at an inauguration, with a flagpole raising rather than a generic ritual.2009-08-11A standing man in saffron-orange robes with a white and pink flower garland and a gold ornamental necklace raises one arm and grips two white ropes that run up past him, appearing to pull or hoist something. Behind him, two men in orange clothing assist with the ropes; one seated man in orange, with a shaved head, holds an object near the ropes. Tall coconut palms and green foliage fill the background, and a flower-decorated stone figure with a reddish-brown surface sits at the lower left. The scene suggests a flag-hoisting or dwajarohanam-style ritual outdoors.2009-06-09Outdoor flagpole hoisting ceremony at an ashram under green trees. A central man in an orange turban and orange robes, wearing a white and magenta flower garland, pulls a rope to raise an orange flag up a white pole. A multicolored fringed umbrella is held above him. Two men in orange robes stand to the left and right, and a crowd of devotees in white dhotis and white clothing stands behind, several with hands folded. Petals and flower offerings lie on a ring of bricks at the pole's base. The central figure's identity is not established by visible cues here, so no identification is made.2008-07-27Photograph of a ritual inside a thatched, bamboo-roofed hall with a lattice wall behind. A man in saffron-orange robes and a matching orange turban, with a long dark hair and a rudraksha mala across his chest, stands bare-shouldered and holds up a yellow-orange coconut, which he pours liquid from as it splashes down. Several people in white clothes are seen from behind in the foreground, their dark heads turned toward him. Fine mist or smoke hangs in the air.2004-07-02A standing man with long, loose dark hair and a red bindi wears an orange saffron robe, a white and red jasmine-and-marigold garland, and a gold necklace with rudraksha-style beads. He holds a brass tray of yellow and white flowers with both hands, as if offering it. Beside him a seated man in orange wears a gold bead mala, and at right another orange-robed attendant reaches up to receive the tray. Yellow and white petals lie on a white platform in front, with leafy brass pots at left and a tall coconut palm behind.2008-12-23January 01 20042004-01-01
