Several people in orange and saffron robes stand or step up, one in a red-orange wrap beside a wooden staff with a metal ferrule. Others in white dhotis and shirts stand at the edge of the frame. The focus is on the feet and clothing rather than faces.

Around him, several men wear orange or saffron cloth, some with white dhotis and shawls, and one man in a red kurta and white dhoti stands to the left. Dry rocks, scrubby bushes and a leafy tree surround the steps, and a long old stone wall runs along the right edge of the frame.
