Near the centre, a group of people in white and light clothing walks toward the distance, and a decorated palanquin or chariot topped with red, orange and green cloth banners stands above the crowd. In the foreground on the right, an older man in a white shawl and yellow dhoti stands beside a younger man in a white shirt and white dhoti, while a man in a dark jacket and jeans walks away from the camera. A decorated float or ratha with yellow, orange and red floral garlands, a saffron canopy and small colourful umbrellas moves through a crowd. Devotees in white dhotis and kurtas and women in white and yellow saris walk around it, some carrying orange bags. Black stone statues stand along the right side, and a bright yellow flower display lies on the ground at the lower right. The figure on the float is too small to describe reliably, and no one is confidently identified as a person.2009-12-27January 04 20122012-01-04A photograph of a sandy village open space shaded by tall coconut palms. A small white pickup truck with an orange banner on its side is parked at left, and a cluster of about eight people in white and mixed clothing stands near the truck and a small shrine. At right is an ornate stone temple gopuram-style entrance with carved figures on its roof and a doorway, with thatched huts and a tin-roofed shed behind. No individual's appearance supports an identification, so no candidate is marked.2012-01-04January 04 20122012-01-04Outdoor photograph of a palm-fringed ceremonial grounds under bright sky. Under a corrugated roofed open pavilion with a tall trident-topped pole, a group of people in saffron/orange and white garments gather. Several figures in orange robes carry drums and move around the sandy compound; men in white dhoti and shirts stand nearby, and a man in dark trousers and white shirt stands at right beside coconut palms. A crouching man in white works at left on bare ground. No individual can be confidently identified as a person from appearance, so the figures are described by role and clothing only.2016-01-15December 23 20082008-12-23Outdoor photo of a crowd on a dirt road lined with palm trees under bright sunlight. A red arched gateway stands in the background, with Tamil text on its crossbar. Two red banners flank the gate, each bearing a portrait and printed text. In the centre, a bare-chested sannyasi in orange cloth and an orange turban walks barefoot with a rudraksha mala, alongside a woman in an orange sari carrying a brass plate of flowers and a garland-wearing man in orange. Nearby, women in orange and white saris and a girl in a pink dress join the procession. Men in white shirts, dhotis and orange shawls, and others in casual clothes, move through the crowd, and a man with a camera stands at right.2014-06-19A large outdoor procession of devotees moves along a dirt road lined with palm trees.
